1/7 Overwatch Patch Notes

Symmetra

Symmetra has always been a tough hero to properly place in the Overwatch lineup. Previously a member of the long removed 'Defense' category, one of Symmetra's key strengths was the ability to control the lanes of the game with defensive turrets and teleporters. However, with the onset of Overwatch 2, we've seen that due to the emphasis on team fighting and grouping, Symmetra's anti-flank characteristics has had its value diminished and playing the Viskhar has become an underwhelming experience.

With this new feedback, we're excited to announce that we're reworking one of Symmetra's key abilities, the sentry turret. Previously, the sentry turret was a fragile, low-damage construct best suited to cover flanks and deter speedy heroes. The sentry's beam will now increase the hero size and hitbox, growing bigger each tick the hero is exposed to the beam. Each additional sentry beam beyond the first will apply ticks at 50% effectiveness. Additionally, the affected hero will be slowed proportionally to the increased size, capping out at a 99% slow. We hope that these changes will help Symmetra players make a heavier impact on the battlefield and better contest key choke points. Log in to the test server to try out these new features!

Here's this month's Patreon Pin-Up, suggested by Muhznit! With the amount of heroes and abilities in Overwatch now, I'm actually surprised that there aren't any hitbox-altering/size increasing ultimates or abilities. Sure, nano-boost can do damage reduction and Kitsune Rush speeds you up, but I'd love to see some sort of size/character buff in the future. Then, finally, we could give Torbjorn the love he deserves.

Aaaaugh, I can't believe I hadn't seen this until now! I'm not used to checking Patreon frequently for stuff. This came out great! I bet Tracer's tits make for a VERY comfy chair, lol
