Thanks, Doug, for exhausting yourself on our behalf! The effect on the drum solo in Nothing At All is a "flange." Back in 1970, just about the only way to accomplish that was to take two identical recordings of something and slowly move them in and out of sync with each other, making sure that they never got so far apart that they would sound like a "slap back" reverb. It was so great to hear Ace of Wands again (it's been a long time since I listened to that album), especially with your delighted reaction to it. And this is probably just me, but even if Chris Squire, or Tony Levin, or even Jaco Pastorius is playing it, a five-minute bass solo is just a bit overindulgent. Well, maybe not if it was Jaco...

"Panopticom" -- the name seems to be a wordplay on "Panopticon", and "com" as abbreviation of "communication", reference to the ever-watching communication satellites flying overhead.

I saw Renaisssance back in the summer of 1978 in Philadelphia. They did Ashes are Burning as their closing encore (as you thought). The airy quality to Annie's vocals at the end were achieved by her standing about 10 feet away from the microphone allowing her to kind of belt for the high notes while keeping that light sound. It was incredible!
