Depending on my mindset when I happen to be listening to The Wall, some part(s) of it never fail to make me cry, or sing along, or pump my fist (or all three at once). Amazing album, great work Doug as always!

Anderson Davies

The Wall - stunning album still. Timeless. And with a special memory for me: Nov 30th 79, Berlin. One day before that a radio special had been playing about 20 minutes of that Album. This feature made me wait outside the next day at the record shop not far from school. When they opened at 10, I snapped the first from the stack, flew on my bike to school, which also had started at 10... When the teacher asked me why I was late, I simply opened my plastic back of the record shop. He looked in, nodded, smiled, and pointed wordlessly to my seat :) No need to say: after school I had a run through twice without break...and no idea what it was all about, haha.

I have owned all five albums. The Astonishing was a more interesting idea than it turned out. The Great Adventure is good but will always be in the shadow of Similitude... I love TWOTW but it is not that varied musically. I still need to spend some quality time with Quadrophenia. Which leaves my choice as The Wall.

I voted The Wall. I don't think it has held up that well (compared to Wish You Were Here and Animals, which have both held up very well). But it's still an iconic album. A sprawling conceptual double album that became a pop music hit and topped charts. It was a cultural phenomena.

Dave Cohen

Voted for Quadrophenia, which is epic, and of particular interest due to the way in which Townsend blends the four themes together.

I'm surprised The Wall isn't over 50%. It's almost unfair to put anyone up against Pink Floyd in just about any poll.

Einaras Sipavičius

I voted for Quadrophenia. The Who was my favorite band in my early adolescence, and Quadrophenia was one of the reasons I really worshipped the band. I've given my opinion on The Wall several times on Discord. It's a great album, but overrated. For me Pink Floyd at this stage is already in decline. Of course it's worth reacting to, but sometimes I'm disappointed by popularity of that album. Also, Pink Floyd is everywhere in this channel, so I'm not voting for Pink Floyd ever again, even if it's one of my favourite bands. Unless Obscured By Clouds will be suggested, that's really underrated album by them. And I won't talk about The Astonishing, I might be banned from the community for harsh opinions and / or vocabulary.

Richard Plante

I agree about Obscured by Clouds, grossly underrated and forgotten album. Most people don’t realize that there was an album released between Meddle and Dark Side. Some of my favorites are on that album.

Einaras Sipavičius

Agree. The fact that I have Obscured By Clouds in my humble CD collection and don't have The Wall says, how much I like that album.

Regardless of the quality of The Wall, I think it'll make for the most interesting reaction and discussion from Doug out of the albums from the list, so it definitely gets my vote.

Quadrophenia is of similar caliber and style. It also weaves motifs and narrative in an interesting way. As was said above, if you're going to do an 70's non-Dark-Side Floyd album, it should be pretty much any BUT the Wall, which has been analyzed to death. Animals would be my pick, but Obscured is also excellent. I also think Wish You Were Here is overrated. Not bad. I still love Shine On, even if it meanders a bit, and the title track is still beautiful.

Richard Plante

Animals has already been done, but I would love to see Obscured by Clouds get the Doug treatment.

The Wall is their best. Yes including Dark Side.

Mark J Moerman

Doug has already done Animals, and also WYWH and Dark Side. I'd definitely dig having him do Obscured by Clouds!

Happy to see a reaction to The Wall but I think Quadrophenia is a must-react for Doug, for me its the most musically cohesive of the classic rock operas, and has an incredible amount of orchestral backing throughout. "Quadrophenia" (the song) and "The Rock" are incredible instrumentals setting up and then recapping the themes and musical motifs of the record.
