I'm very pleased to present this special Behind the Score episode. I'm joined in my home studio by John Franek, one of my dearest friends and colleagues. We'll be listening to and providing analysis on his orchestral work Sea Change. 

John will talk about the opportunity to travel to Bulgaria to premiere this piece, the work's point of view, and about all the fascinating extended techniques he notates for the orchestra members to perform.

Amazing episode. I had to watch it again.

I enjoyed it on first listen at the premiere, and had a more literal take on the music. Now, enjoying this deep dive (pun intended) I better understand and more fully appreciate what an accomplishment this piece of music is. Equally enjoyable is the mutual respect and good natured exchange between two friends. The micro tonal organ blew my mind! I look forward to hearing what John comes up with and certainly look forward to another interview!
