I'm due for another 'Doug's Choice' in our Extended Play Lounge episodes. And, this time, I'm going with Days of Future Passed by The Moody Blues

This one has been on my list for quite some time. And, I haven't listened to any of their music in several months. So, I'll be working on this one for a release sometime around mid-month.

Chime in if there's a specific version of this that is preferred. Thanks!

Please use the original studio version - that's the real deal.

I am so excited! I suggested this to Dr. Doug via Facebook Messenger and Gmail long before the Patreon and Discord were ever considered. I'm seriously interested in Dr. Doug's analysis of Peter Knight's orchestral interludes, specifically the "overture" of The Day Begins.

As far as versions go, the Wikipedia article has a very good description of what was changed in each reissue/remaster. I agree with the others that the original studio version is the one to do. The entire project was conceived at the time to feature Deram's new recording technology, Deramic Sound. It will be interesting to include Dr. Doug's thoughts on how the recording sounds for a 1967 release, compared to what was typically heard then (mostly monophonic?) and what is heard now.

The original album please.

Richard Rathbun

O-riginal 1967 studio release :-).

Artur Kinal

Studio album if you please

Yes, this is definitely a head phones-wearing, surround-sound experience that requires the Moody's definitive editing job in the studio.

Can’t wait. Masterpiece
