Married lesbian couple launch discrimination action against NHS - Megan and Whitney have launched legal action as part of their fertility equality campaign. It is much harder (and much more expensive) for lesbian couples to access help from the NHS with starting a family.

Adult sites are going to KEEP shutting down - Ruby Rousson of the Ruby Umbrella talks about the pattern of sites demonetising or banning explicit content and the impact on sex workers. The article does also give some great tips for navigating all this fuckery like making sure you have copies of all of your content, being across multiple platforms, regularly downloading your email list and reserving your username on different sites.

BooksandLala popping up on my homepage again and I have no regrets:

predicting 2022 book covers & then designing them - so fun. She reads so many books her knowledge about book cover trends is amazing. And I find trends in book covers  so interesting!

everything I read in 2021 - do you like books? Do you like statistics? Well this BooksandLala video is the one for you! Trying not to feel incredibly inferior in terms of how many books she manages to read...

STIs aren’t a consequence. They’re inevitable - Ella Dawson’s TEDx talk. I recently interviewed her for Doing It all about herpes which you’ll hear soon!

Emma Watson SMEARED For Supporting Palestine - excuse the very clicky journalism headline there from Owen Jones. Interesting interview with Salem Barahmeh (Executive Director of Rābet by PIPD) and Em Hilton (co-founder of Na’amod: British Jews Against Occupation).

LA is dead & everyone’s moving to NYC???  - this is the kind of internet analysis I live for yum yum yum gimmie the dirt on all the American influencers

i read BO BURNHAM’S favorite books - some of you may have already seen this as Leena recommended it in one of her videos recently but that’s how I found it! I found it so interesting that she loves Bo Burnham but basically hated all his favourite books!! Her reviews actually led me to deleting one of these books off my TBR.

Podcasts

A Motherhood Educator On Adoption, Motherhood Reality, And How To Know If You Should Have Kids - really interesting episode of The Financial Confessions. More specific to the US in terms of the details/process/costs around things like adoption and fostering but really interesting to listen to nonetheless. The guest is an adoptee herself and has 3 kids - adopted, biological and fostered then adopted so she has a whole range of personal experiences with parenting and childhood.

Mae Martin - I was doing a bit of a catch up of the I Weigh podcast recently and obviously had to listen to the one with Mae Martin whom I ADORE. This episode was pre-season 2 of Feel Good so there’s a lot of stuff relevant to that they obviously don’t get into but they talk a lot about comedy, addiction and gender.
