Articles
How pregnancy actually happens - we've all been duped. Also I properly laughed at "sperm try their best" 😂
A better sex ethic - this has been saved in my Pocket for months but only just reading it now I think it shares a lot of what was explored in Katherine Angel's book Tomorrow Sex Will Be Good Again. Consent won't solve all our sex problems. And a follow up question I have is, what about the sex where you know it won't be good for you but you do it anyway because YOLO?
How To Talk a Relationship Break & Not Have It End In Disaster - I've never had an on-off again kind of relationship and as an outsider to them, I do not understand.
The Innate Black Britishness of I May Destroy You - if you missed I May Destroy You when it came out on BBC last year then consider this a gentle nudge to watch it (if you want to, I'm trying to avoid saying "OMGG you MUST watch this thing!" and TW for sexual assault/rape in the show. But this article just made me remember how fucking good this show is and also the stuff about the subtitles mistranslating some of the slang is interesting.
Videos
The Mask You Live In - this is a trailer for a documentary about masculinity (US focus) from the same production company that made Miss Representation (which I still haven't seen). This is a reminder to myself to watch that and watch The Mask You Live In (both are available to rent on Google Play/YouTube)
Children's 'Innocent' Drawings Crack Phillip and Holly Up - I don't watch This Morning but I'm a sucker for their viral clips and best moments on YouTube and this came up and I love it.
The Struggles of ASEXUALITY - Chandler Wilson, Echo and Aaron all on the ace spectrum talk about their experiences. I really love the conversation about realising that other people did in fact experience sexual attraction and it wasn't some made up thing!
The laws that sex workers really want - TED talk by Juno Mac, one of the authors of Revolting Prostitutes. It's a really great breakdown of the different models: decriminalisation, legalisation, Nordic Model etc. and the intentions behind them, what the impact of them is on sex workers and what sex workers actually want (DECRIMINALISATION!)
Inside "Hamilton" Star Daveed Diggs and Emmy Raver-Lampman's LA Home - stunning, just stunning. I feel like I'm always on the very dangerous edge of going down rich people's house tours and interior design YouTube.
I'm Coming Out Again... #SuperStraight - Kat Blaque at it again being brilliant, dissecting the "super straight" thing and transphobia.
Defying gravity | Who sang it best? | Vocal coach reacts! - I watch one video by this woman and suddenly my YouTube homepage is filled with her videos and other vocal coach reacts videos and it's too much for me. But she did lead me to find Voctave's Disney Princess Medley which is just STUNNING!
2021 spring/summer book releases I read & loved! - Rosianna giving us all the great book recommendations!
Make your ex pay - love this Anna Akana sketch about invoicing for emotional labour!
Podcasts
Werewolves: A Metaphor? - really loved this episode from Witch, Please dissecting why Rowling saying that Werewolves in the Wizarding World are a metaphor for HIV/AIDS is ummmm super bad and not how metaphors work.
