November Reading List (Patreon)
Content
Wow I'm such an idiot. So I accidentally posted this to everyone and then deleted it in a panic and forgot to post it to my lovely reading list nerds. Here's November's reading list!
Articles
Why Are Young People Having So Little Sex? - this is a very long but very interesting read and actually inspired the article in The Times that I was featured in on this subject. There’s also a video version if you want to learn why young people are having less sex but not a big reader.
Just because I’m in a wheelchair, it doesn’t mean I don’t have a great sex life - short lil article about sex, love and being a wheelchair user.
The Real Truth About YouTube’s Obsessive Purity Subculture - there is so much on YouTube often you forget that there are entire subcultures thriving on the same platform. Interesting article about the women who make videos for young girls about all sorts of things but also have videos about “saving yourself” before marriage.
Videos
The Secret Language of Gay People? - Rowan does a great job at breaking down Polari, the secret gay language of the 19th and 20th centuries. Learned a bit about this at university during my history of homosexuality module and did a video on it with Calum a few years ago but Rowan’s is brilliantly researched and informative.
Music Honest Hour: dodie - Another video with friends of mine but really interesting chat about music, creativity and the music industry with dodie and Leadley.
Pronouns - I feel like I must have included a ContraPoints video in one of these lists before but here’s another one. She’s just so good. If you’re not subscribed already, do it now.
Dine and Dish: Shan Boody - Shannon is a sex educator and a friend based in LA. She’s started this new series and in the first episode they talked about defining marriage and reacted to the Jada Pinkett Smith Red Table Talk with Will Smith. So naturally that led me to watch the entire Red Table Talk conversation. It was so interesting learning about their relationship and how they communicate and relate to one another. Here’s part one and part two. It’s long but stick it on in the background and absorb their wisdom about love and relationships.
The Kama Sutra is not (just) about sex - Another example of someone else making a video about something I learned at uni and doing it better than me. This time it’s Vox. Here’s my video about it from years ago!
Why Elle Mills is Special - love this video from Jack Conte (CEO of Patreon) about why Elle and her videos are so special and going into her creative process.

The Guilty Feminist: Money - I am very very late to The Guilty Feminist party. I think when so many people are talking about a thing I don’t want to get into something just because everyone else likes it. But the thing is, if a lot of people like something then odds are it’s quite good. Turns out the Guilty Feminist podcast is quite good. I really enjoyed the episode of money.
