A young local iMac G3 collector with presence on YouTube as TheMacintoshBuyer was looking for a strawberry iMac DV slot load, which was the only colour he hadn't owned before. I had bought one a couple years ago just for my iMac SL video and it sat on the shelf since.

When I said that I was not particularly attached to it, he offered a Power Macintosh G4 Sawtooth with 17" graphite CRT. The exact system I bought in 2000, but my CRT died... loudly... years ago. In addition, a 17" iMac G5, which I did not own, but will be handy for the next video.

He's recently got back into making videos, and has a lot of knowledge about these. For example, the Harmon Kardon speakers will basically fall apart if you push any volume after this many years.

Within hours he had a video posted on his take-apart and inspection. Great stuff!

2024-02-19 19:26:28 I learned the hard way just how easy it is to kill those old Harmon Kardon speakers on my 600mhz graphite. I’m not looking forward to that repair.

That's unfortunate. He claimed the replacement is not too bad and hopes to do a video about it.
