Mikey England grew up wrestling ever since a young kid in middle school. He started wrestling at Iowa State for his first three years in college. After not playing as much as he liked he transferred over to the University of Missouri and did really well.

A girlfriend at the time was living in Kansas City and that's why England is now there and training at Glory MMA. Zac Cummings is who England first started training under and then met James Krause. England even has both of them in his corner when he fights.

England came into MMA with just wrestling experience and a little bit of jiu-jitsu. When he made his debut in 2018 and throughout his amateur career he used every bit of that wrestling background. In four fights he won all four and all four by TKO stoppage. Along with some strong wrestling, it was also the mauling ground and pound he smashed all four guys with.

When England made his pro debut he did in a big. His opponent rushed forward but into a big right hook from England. It visibly shook him and without time to recover England got the body lock and planted him down. The impact was so hard the dude went out cold.

England has done a great job sticking to his roots being his wrestling. He's also developed a dangerous striking game. It's important to note his striking isn't great at all. There is more to it outside of just knockout power but it's a big reason. He generates so much power in his hands it only takes one from him to make a difference. Sometimes he'll whiff overhands not being close to hitting his opponent. He does get more comfortable when he settles in and actually is fairly technical. England does have a strong stiff jab and will go to the body then head in short combinations. Unless he knocks you out early doesn't play around on the feet too much before taking the fight down.

England has wrestled his whole life about it so it's at quite a high level. He hasn't had an opponent yet that's been able to stop the takedown. What's impressive with his wrestling most of his takedowns are from the upper body. Meaning he's usually just using that raw power besides having to chain wrestle. And as I said above England has that mauling-type ground and pound.  Not giving a damn about submissions England is just all about punching their face in. Definitely someone you don't want in a dominant position but will just stand over you raining down the thunder.

England is an exciting fighter and deserving of my prospect of the week. I don't rate him as highly as others considering his level of competition. Also, even though he's come back stronger that loss to 2-6 fighter looks pretty bad. He was just caught flush and isn't as bad if he were to get dominated. If anything win or lose England is gonna go out on his sword and so far, he's been the swordman.
