Seasons of Change 🐠✨ - Timelapse Video (Patreon)

I'm almost done wrapping up client projects this month, so I had time to do this piece! ✨ It was so much fun to do! I haven’t done a closeup shot of a character in a while, so it was fun trying to figure out a dynamic composition! 🥰🐠✨

I had this idea of painting fish with the seasons of change. I wanted to create a colour effect with these fish! 🐠🌈

I’ve attached the timelapse video of my piece. Then when it came to the final touches, I transferred it to Photoshop. 

This is what it looked like when I finished the piece in Procreate:

I decided to finish the piece in Photoshop so I could add more layers and detail to the fish 

From here, I decided to add a very light wash of different colors reflected in the background. Adding this really ties it in nicely with all the colors of the fish

To create some depth, I added fish in the foreground and used gaussian blur to create that depth of field. I also added bubbles and a ray of light from the top to add some atmosphere. 

The last touches are adjusting the colour balance and brightening the overall image! 

I'm quite happy with how it turned out! 😊 This piece took a while since I also tested a different way to render and colour the character. I used graphite and 6B Pencil from Procreate to add hatching to the shading to give it a traditional look. Adding the texture helps create contrast against the fish.
