Sorry For Helldiving | Sacred Symbols, Episode 294

It's been an unusual week in the PlayStation ecosystem, especially in recent years, where the exclusives and heavy-hitters from Sony primarily resided in the single-player sphere. But then a game like Helldivers 2 drops out of orbit, and suddenly we're brought back to the days of SOCOM, Killzone, and others, when PlayStation had an actual online identity, albeit a fledgling one. Could this be the beginning of a great new trend? Or does pessimism reign supreme? Other news this week includes the most vague, circular PR from Xbox that confirms -- yes, indeed -- Xbox games are en route to PlayStation beginning with four titles, while Sony releases a financial report that shows promising revenue and meteoric PS5 sales, but with serious financial warnings on the horizon. Plus: What the hell is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet? Is there a rift between Konami and Bloober Team? Are people overreacting to the Tomb Raider Remaster's content warning label? Then: Listener inquiries! Where do we fall in the raging 'yellow paint' debate? What's our favorite JRPG battle system? Which order should the Castlevania games be played in? Was Colin's and Micah's recent visit to Cracker Barrel everything they hoped it'd be? Follow the hosts on Twitter! Two things I'm surprised Colin missed: 1) "Game Pass will be on Xbox only" is not ending anything, as from the internal note to employees, hours before the business update, Sarah Bond wrote: "Every screen is an Xbox". Boom. 2) Showing Game Pass sub numbers is great, but shame nobody (almost) noticed that those are numbers including the Xboc Live Gold members, that were changed into Game Pass Core, and put into the pull. When that happened in September I said that people after few months will forget, and it happened. Credits to Tom Warren (wasn't expecting that) for pointing it on social media.

Peter, the Castlevania starter, Colin is in fanboy mode 😅 so just play Symphony of the Night, as if you start from the other games you will bounce off from the difficulty and presentation. Cheers!

Other than Bloodborne I think most of PS4's banger exclusives were in the 2nd half of its life cycle. PS5 is sure to follow a similar path with sucker punch, naughty dog, blue point, bend, Santa Monica etc cooking. Not to mention I'm so excited for stuff like Death Stranding 2, Stellar Blade, Ronin, a new Astro Bot, Rebirth etc. Personally I'm loving this generation so far 🔥

You might even get those people who have PS and XBOX to buy the game again to play with their friends in the other ecosystem

Absolutely shocked the commie has no problem with what crystal dynamics said. And the other two just agreeing so the boat isn't rocked.

Colin is like, Sony games are spending too much on aesthetic and mid level games should seek to reduce cost so more people can make games. But also, AI is bad because it reduces cost and allows too many people to make games in a flooded market. Is it just me or is this contradictory?

Here is the youtube link to the video where colin talks about getting black listed by Konami: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ouYp6i2kNU

Colin you are wrong about Granblue Fantasy. All you need to do to play on an iPhone is open the official website on Safari. No addons, no Japanese account, nothing but just using the default iPhone browser.

This societal shift in white collar work is what’s causing so much of these declines in profit. Not saying that it’s a bad thing, but the reduction in efficiency should’ve been expected and accounted for. People working from home, no overtime, air hockey tables in the break rooms, and next thing you know Spider-Man 2 costs $300,000,000. Might be sustainable for some, but don’t dare miss on any of your projects.
