It's been an unusual week in the PlayStation ecosystem, especially in recent years, where the exclusives and heavy-hitters from Sony primarily resided in the single-player sphere. But then a game like Helldivers 2 drops out of orbit, and suddenly we're brought back to the days of SOCOM, Killzone, and others, when PlayStation had an actual online identity, albeit a fledgling one. Could this be the beginning of a great new trend? Or does pessimism reign supreme? Other news this week includes the most vague, circular PR from Xbox that confirms -- yes, indeed -- Xbox games are en route to PlayStation beginning with four titles, while Sony releases a financial report that shows promising revenue and meteoric PS5 sales, but with serious financial warnings on the horizon. Plus: What the hell is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet? Is there a rift between Konami and Bloober Team? Are people overreacting to the Tomb Raider Remaster's content warning label? Then: Listener inquiries! Where do we fall in the raging 'yellow paint' debate? What's our favorite JRPG battle system? Which order should the Castlevania games be played in? Was Colin's and Micah's recent visit to Cracker Barrel everything they hoped it'd be?

The boys touched on a key statement i noticed as well, the xbox mindset hasnt just shifted for Games on PS, but also to Game Pass on Xbox only. This tells me their goal of xbox games only on PS through Game Pass has no future so their shifting to a new mentality where they release everything on PS later and say "Buy it full price on PS, or get an Xbox/PC and play it day one through game pass for $17 a month. Its basically a flipped mentality but it makes sense since Sony and Nintendo wont let them put game pass on their devices.

I’m excited at the idea of more games launching to more platforms. Gives us more options to play where we want.

Unless Concord, Fairgames or Marathon seriously pop off, I don't think releasing their games multiplat will make any difference tbh, not to the point where it'll be noticable. If gamers were interested in Sony's first party, they already have a PS5. I don't think PC numbers will increase overall sales that much tbh. That's to say, it'll be negligable. The biggest reason I think there's disappointment in their financial results has got to do with the first party. Their output has just been not good enough this generation. It excites me to hear Totoki throw the gauntlet down, but I'm genuinely curious how much first part was effected by the Live Service initiative. I really want to go IN on the first party, because I feel like they've MASSIVELY dropped the ball, but I'm only hesitating on the small chance (imo) it wasn't in their hands. At this point, if I'm in the M&A team, I'd be looking at non-American studios that cane make quality games on a 2-3 year cycle.

The Crystal Dynamics Tomb Raider messsge is much more offensive than anything in the game itself. ‘Yeah the people who made this 30 years ago were racist and morally inferior to us and were throwing them under the bus, but we’re more than happy to still use their work to make money for ourselves’ F**k them, arrogant, condescending, self-righteous pr**ks.

“The trophy percentages will be much higher on PS5 for these Xbox games.” Correct, because much fewer people will play them. Way to discover the power of a denominator.

Legendary thumbnail, immaculate musical tastes lads.

I do think Colin is under selling Bloober team . They are kind of like super fans of silent Hill. I played The Medium and sure it wasn’t a masterpiece, the graphics were fine. You could see the silent Hill inspiration all over that game . Give them a chance they love this IP.

Cracker Barrel has the best pancakes.

Pretty sure those cannibals are not going to be playing Tomb Raider. I don’t see how they will be offended

Not that it matters but I figured I’d point out Naomi Matsuki the vice president at Sony Corp said the ps5 is entering the latter stage of its life. That was a quote. Latter just means closer to the end than the beginning so I don’t think it’s that hyperbolic to put in a headline especially when the VP did say that. Loved the podcast guys.

Helldivers 1 had a 3 race of enemies. I forget what they were called, but they were basically the Protoss from StarCraft

I was screaming “trigger” the whole time lol

Accounting isn't so bad. You deal with numbers and not people. And you can listen to podcasts while doing routine work. It's not the video production I got my college degree for, but it's not bad work.

Haha, I’m not sure that people are dumbing than ever before, given how we have MRNA vaccines which are now to be used against cancer, AI tech like never before and a guy sending a shit ton of satellites into space and implanting chips into brains.

I can be wrong, but on the financial report issue. It’s pretty clear that game design labor is way overblown. Publishers have to start paying much less in order to balance out budget. These game costs are getting out of control Just how actors in the industry are way overpaid

Not Chris mentioning Funhaus…
