Xbox Is Doing The IMPOSSIBLE For Blizzard... | Defining Duke, Episode 149

It was a bit chilly this weekend as a Blizzard seems to have blown through Xbox. That works, right? Anyway, during Blizzcon, we received a close up look at what's to come for the likes of Diablo, World Of Warcraft, and much more. More importantly is Phil Spencer's stage presence and the subsequent interview done with Blizzard President Mike Ybarra that has grown the expectations of "old Blizzard" making a return. Blizzard Entertainment has long been under the thumb of Activision with much of their decisions funneling through them. Now, Mike and his teams gets to report in to his old pal whom he worked with for almost two decades with at Xbox, Phil Spencer. Otherwise, Xbox has begun to further explore AI game development tools which specifically target the creative aspect of game development. With their substantial lead in cloud tech due to Azure, it's worth asking if this is cause for concern. Plus more on Grand Theft Auto's next entry in the series, Free Radical possibly being shuttered, Xbox's commitment to releasing a big game every 3 months, and so much more! Cog has a GREAT SMILE, I never knew he had something happen like that… I could never even tell.

While im loving Starfield, I would have preferred a fully voiced protagonist instead of my character just standing there silently. I will never understand how having a fully voiced protagonist hurts the game because if the game is exactly the same as it is now but all the lines were fully voiced, that makes it even better because now, you're even more immersed into the game, the world, the stories and the characters. But to each their own.

I imagine it's a volume of work, versus return on investment problem. Plus file size of game. You would need a man and a woman, and possibly two men and two women, to each voice every single line the player character ever speaks, while many players would only ever experience their one preferred voice option. Far easier and simpler, and less controversial to have the player supply their own voice, for their own experience. In my memories of Mass Effect, I much more think of Shepard as a character who I observe from the outside, whereas in Bethesda games my character IS me, although I don't go to much effort making him look like me. So I believe there are different effects to 1st person vs 3rd person, or personally voiced vs professionally voiced.

Cog relaying his late night cheese cake escapades 😭 I felt that on a spiritual level 👌🏿

Hi Cog if a 4 should only be reserved for broken mess games and a lazy cut and paste no effort should be a 5 or a 6 then what would warrant a 1,2 or 3? A 4 seems very fair to me. Below average.
