Greeting and salutations! We're glad to see you return for another episode of Last Stand Media's conversational podcast, Constellation. This week, the Brothers Moriarty are joined by Punching Up co-host Micah Watson and Last Stand's composer Ramon Narvaez. Ramon brings a fun topic to the show this week: Cult movies. We each chose three titles to discuss (for 12 total), films we think deserve attention even if they've flown far under the radar. Micah, meanwhile, wants to chat about the plight of acne. Did we suffer from it in our younger years (or perhaps we still do)? Colin is becoming increasingly infuriated by the eager acceptance of so-called AI art, which isn't actually art at all, but wholesale theft merely rearranged for the undiscerning consumer. Does the panel share his concerns? Finally, Dagan inquires as to separating the art from the artist. That is to say: When something you love was made by someone you hate, can that ever be rectified?

Looks like a great mix of topics - and I always love when Micah is on the panel!

I'm glad AI is making its way into creative fields as well. In the past, it often felt like those of us in the working class were ignored and simply wished 'good luck.' Now, as automation affects the creative class, it seems we're expected to sympathize. Well, I can't. My job is also at risk, and I sense a somewhat dismissive attitude from some in the creative field who say, 'Of course your job might suffer, but creative jobs are essential for humanity.

Michael Thew

It just shows that even the bleeding hearts have their own self preservation and in the end only care about themselves.

Huge proponent of accutane for acne. I didn't start it until I was 32 and wished I had way earlier, and it cleared up almost 20 years of suffering in a year and helped with some of my scarring. I haven't had acne at all since my treatment finished. Big obvious talk to your doctor first though, it can be dangerous

I think its extremely important how feverishly, Colin continues to rally against AI art and such. I myself am a fine artist/classical artist and this stuff hits home for me. Even if I wasnt an artist it'd still hit hard and worry me, because I understand and appreciate the craft of human ingenuity. We are living in Black Mirror.

Shout out to Protomartyr!

I’m So glad I’m not the only one Colin. I have general Anxiety too and I have the exact same dreams where I’m late to be to work or appointments and everything is stopping me from getting there, I can’t use my phone to communicate with people for some reason and I keep being later and later and panicking. Then I wake up and it’s fucking 3:30 am and I have to be at work at 9 am and now I can’t sleep lol. Love anxiety.

Lou & Rei Loper

Oooooooooooooh these topics look good. Separating the art from the artist is ESPECIALLY a great topic to me.

Micah is 100 percent correct. Bill Burr and Anthony Jeselnik are funnier than modern Dave Cappelle. Bill Burr does "offensive" comedy in the best way possible imo.

I think Roman needs to realize that Dave Chappelle mocks everyone of every race, gender, religion.. trans people aren't above getting made fun of by a comedian

Michael Thew

Right, they threatened his life for saying a joke but they are mentally fucked. So I suppose it’s like making fun of the rest of the mentally challenged individuals, even though those people have a sense of humor and are mostly nice people, something the alphabet people do not have. That and the man speaks the truth and people that are offended are only that way because they have no argument to defend themselves. That and Roman and Dagon are just jealous that Dave can say what he wants and he can’t be touched, where they’d be unemployed by saying how they feel, but all that takes is some balls and talent.

Angel DeJesus

Completely disagree with Ramon on Chapelle. Artist can't be censored. He makes fun of everyone. He goes after that community more now, cuz they tried to end his livelihood, his career. And until someone against him can explain to me why it's OK to make fun of priest molesting children, but not Crack jokes about trans,or why his jokes about Trans promote violence, but jokes about police brutality doesn't promote police brutality, it's a paper argument.

Michael Thew

They are upset because they can’t control him or they are jealous because they don’t have a set to stand up for themselves, instead they sold their soul to the man

Tanner Denso

Sorry Ramon, but Chappelle has always made jokes about the current culture. The whole LGBT is very much at the forefront of our culture. Fair game for any joke.

John Warner

Ramon looks exactly like my dad did with that mustache and glasses lol.

John Warner

You want AI created content? See starfields endless nothing. All AI generated planets and places. Compared to skyrims handcrafted brilliance. Is anyone actually enjoying the Non-handcrafted parts of starfield??

NecrumOddBoy

Ramon is 100% wrong on Chapelle but to each their own. I don’t think his last special was as funny as Sticks and Stones, but it was definitely more heartfelt on Dave as a human who does has a great deal respect for people, but at the end of the day he’s a comedian, and his job is to make jokes about life, both in the light and in the dark side of things.

king_ryan_james

I used to be a big fan of Kanye West’s music and his creative process. Now, I just can’t support him at all and I’ve deleted anything and everything having to do with him from my life.

NinjaDC

The danger with AI art isn't it being as good as real artist, but "good enough." Because corporations and studios only care about it being good enough to sell. These are the institutions that created "written by committee, " and build movies as a product meant to sell other products. It scares me that the Kathleen Kennedys of the world might soon have the tech to use AI to write good enough stories by themselves. Meaning the sh^$ they try to feed us won't even be filtered by a writer with an actual creative mind.

Michael Thew

So your saying the garbage that has become Star Wars could possibly be worse? I wouldn’t say those movies came from any creative mind and if this is the brightest and most talented minds making this junk, maybe they should be replaced

Ignorant Primate

Favorite cult classics: Robo Vampire, Battle Royale and The Holy Mountain. Runner up: Rock ‘n’ Roll Nightmare.

Mario Villelli

I appreciate Micah’s topic. I still deal with acne while many of my friends and coworkers have outgrown it, so it’s nice to relate to her story.

NecrumOddBoy

Three of my favorite masterpiece Cult Classics: SLC Punk Four Rooms Nothing But Trouble

JohnOfTheDead

I’d like to see Micah as a permanent 5th chair on Constellation. Not sure how it would work with the topics, but she brings out the best of Colin almost more than Chris or Dagan.

Ramon argument is kinda weak about Chappelle. But I do understand what he saying. I thought it's okay for Chappelle to make fun of trans people because is that not the point of comedy? Everyone finds things funny until it crosses their line and no longer is funny for them. Is it "punching down"? I have watched comedy where they make fun of someone or something I love but I still enjoyed this conversation. Always good to hear opinions I do not see eye to eye on

Josh Gamez

The more Ramon is on these Podcasts, the more I like the dude. Lol

Glen Yelenovic
