PlayStation's Retro Scene Gets A Magazine | Sacred Symbols+, Episode 329

Please welcome friend-of-the-show Sandeep Rai back to Sacred+. This is Sandeep's third appearance around these parts, and he returns packing a new Kickstarter that I (Colin) think will appeal to a great many of you. It's called RPM: The Unofficial Retro PlayStation Magazine, it's a print mag aiming at a quarterly release schedule, and each issue comes packed with 60 pages of retrospectives, impressions, reviews, interviews, and more concerning Sony's storied history in the games space. PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Portable, and even our beloved PlayStation Vita -- the discontinued machines, as it were -- are eligible for coverage, and chances are you're probably gonna learn a thing or two after leafing through. Old-schoolers: This one's for you (well, us actually).

Awesome episode. The pure enthusiasm for all things Playstation just oozes from this dude. Definitely a cool chemistry brews between these two when they podcast. An LSM magazine would be cool too with him involved. Maybe 1 a quarter or something? Or even biannual. Probably sell gangbusters.

Good episode. I don't mess with Kickstarters at all, I think starting a Patreon would be a better idea. Just ask for double the money for security on a 90 page episode #3 god of war, jaffe would be down for a interview. Then start patreon, I'm sure LSM would promote it. Maybe down the road he could merge with LSM when the subs count is high enough to do it justice. I will definitely sub. Think big QR codes on back of issue to the Patreon . Also think about giving out free QR code stickers with online orders so fans can stick them all over public property, free ads.

Bought the ps3 book. Can't wait for it to ship out. Swell guy.

I agree with the Kickstarter bit. I've only supported 4 projects on there and 2 of them went up in smoke. I won't risk it anymore.

This sounds great! I completely missed the PS3 book, is there a way to still get it?
