Greetings from the Anti Anti-Consumer Club, I’m here to lodge a grave complaint with Sony Interactive Entertainment for their return to their old ways of anti-consumerism of their physical products. Long-gone we thought; the days of the 20, 50, and 100 dollar proprietary vita memory cards which put the handheld 1 foot in the ground to start. However, here we are again with the PS Portal. It turns out it’s less to your PS5 and more to your wallet! No OS outside of remote play, no CLOUD Streaming, and the cherry on top: No Bluetooth.. So unless you’re what some here would call, fucking deficient, and blaring your shitty speakers from the handheld..you’re gonna wanna grab some new $200 PS AirPods because your Raycons ain’t going to cut it Chris! I will remind everyone, you can buy a Steam Deck and run ps remote play on it fine within the home. A full computer and game system with whatever headphones you got vs… whatever this Portal is. So in conclusion, what are each of yours decision in regards to buy or pass?

Hey CDC, Sacred Symbols and particularly Colin have been understanding of the $60 to $70 price increase for videogames as games haven’t scaled with inflation like many other products have. I genuinely agree with that statement even though my wallet may not. However, with the $20 increase for the base PlayStation Plus Essential, $35 for Extra, and $40 for Premium tiers this is becoming a little bit more hard to swallow. As someone who only really uses the online functionality for cloud saving this doesn’t really push a value proposition for me as a consumer. The three games a month generally aren’t games I frequent just library filler. Is this more to do with the subscription model or the greed of PlayStation as a company? Probably both. Anyways, stock up on CDKeys while you can, -Justin

What up CDC! With the recent emergence of AI, how long until we see it implemented into video games, not just in how they're developed, but in the actual gameplay and dialogue? It would be wild to see in a game like RE4 or God of War where the enemies are actually learning and adapting to how we play. Sniping a group of enemies from afar? They start running for cover and slowly move towards you. Keep spamming the same move over and over again? They start blocking or counter attacking that move. I'd be so interested to see how enemies in a game would react and adapt if they were powered by an AI that was constantly learning based on how you play. How do you think AI could be implemented into actual gameplay across the many different types of games that are out there? Cheers boys.

What’s up CDC, I will start by saying I completely agree with Colin’s argument against Game Pass in regards to completion vs numbers of players. It’s hard to compare something like Hi-Fi rushes 3 million players vs 10% of those players completing it when you look at FF16’s 3 million PURCHASED copies with a 39% completion percentage. But I want to add to this argument. Suppose a game like Hi-Fi Rush cost 20 million dollars (I’m not sure on the price just an example) but Microsoft turns around and says “Well the engagement of your game was very low. People played on average 40 minutes. We can only give you a budget of 10 million dollars this time around.” And games because smaller and smaller as their engagement becomes lesser. Please understand these numbers and even business entities are just examples but does that makes sense? Why would they keep giving game developers large budgets when their engagement is so low. I understand some games are meant to be smaller bite size experiences but I would imagine Xbox wants to create games that makes people stay in their ecosystem, not just games they play for 5 minutes and then jump off. As always Love what you all do and please remember that chicken is someone’s Daughter. Love, Mr. Davy

Guys, I need your help. My girl isn’t a gamer, but I want to try to change that. The only modern games she’s played are Animal Crossing and Disney Dreamlight Valley (Animal Crossing-like game). When we got the Switch, she played Mario Odyssey and Luigi’s Mansion 3 with me. She struggles controlling a 3D camera with the right stick, and she gets really tense in moments of action and practically forgets what button does what. Similarly to the first time I played a FromSoft game. I want her to give it another go. Perhaps a game on PlayStation, which tend to have a camera that’s more “behind” the character (over the shoulder) than the more overhead Mario camera. Controls are by far what she struggles with most. What game(s) should I have her try? It can’t be too hard or complicated, but doesn’t necessarily have to be as simple as Mario. I can help her. It’s okay if any of your recommendations are on Switch or Xbox, as we have those as well. Please help me out fellas. My life would be soooo much more fucking peaceful if I could get her into games. Thanks boys, love you.

Hello sacred AC pilots, Colin I’m currently listening to JoeRogan and am just wondering. When you made your appearances on the show, we’re you invited by the man himself or what we’re the circumstances of you making it on an as a guest?

Cyberslut69

Greetings king glizzy and the sacred slizzys, Armored core 6 is out now and I really want to play it, but Im put off by how difficult FromSoftware games are, I tried sekiro and couldn’t get past the first level. Do you think it would be an unreasonable request to ask for some difficulty options in FromSoftware games and the souls like genre in general? Surely this would help expand the player base and generate more revenue?

Jake Z

Do you think Playstation has enlisted their game directors to talk about their games on podcasts as a way of compensating for their backgrounding of executive personalities like Shu?

Tacoyaki

Hey there sacred gents! So which food America does better? Pizza or burgers?

Cameron

This one is for the glizzy gobbler, With the abundance of remakes we’re seeing, why have we not seen remakes of the first 3 uncharted games? It seems like a sure fire win for Sony considering so many people who have PS5’s weren’t born or too young to play when they were originally released or just for the fact it would be awesome to play them again on modern tech. PS…keep gobblin’ those glizzy’s 😉

Benito

Look guys I know a bunch of people brought it up already so I'll keep it brief. I am not paying 80 dollars to have cloud saves and the privilege to play CoD online. It's not happening. I'll just build a PC or get a Steam Deck in the coming years when these prices get jacked up again.

Good Morrow Sacred Space Cadets, Not a question per se but a small fun factuality for Chris. Did he know that Starfield commissioned an official song from his absolute favorite band THE Imagine Dragons. He truly hasn't lived on God's Green earth until he's heard them rhyme "Sky" with "High" 4.5 billion times. How would he compare this song to Paul McCartney's Destiny track? The world needs to know. Fare Thee Well Boys.

Hey, boys, I was listening to your discussion on last week's episode regarding IP fanboy wars (Halo vs COD, Street Fighter vs Mortal Kombat, etc...) and couldn't help but think that there was one glaring omission to the discussion. IGN's infamous Skyrim vs Dark Souls comparison piece. The world's largest games media website really took two games that couldn't be more different save for sharing the fantasy genre, found some really tenuous points to compare and contrast, extremely poorly, and shit it out onto the net where it promptly ignited an unholy flame war for months and endless memes... seemingly just for the clicks. Colin, this was during your time there. Any stories or memories from the other side about how that piece of hard hitting journalism made it to publication? Also, think we could see round 2 from them with Armored Core and Starfield? I mean...it's the same dev teams, and they're both sci-fi. Past precedent says that's all we need, right? Thanks as always for all you guys do!

Andy

Hey fellas, It looks like we have another scandal here. Potato gate Colin I take umbrage in your lack of respect for the baked potato. The baked potato is obviously top notch and needs all the praise. The real question is what accoutrements do you apply to your baked potato? I personally use butter, salt pepper, cottage cheese, bacon bits and Montreal seasoning. Topped with chives. Sour cream belongs on Tacos not Potatoes. Also do you pronounce it Potato or Potato?

Hello Gents, Immortals of Aveum came and went without many people taking notice. 750 peak concurrent players on steam. Was this game sent out to die between BG3, Armored Core 6, and Starfield? To me this is the same mistake EA did with Titanfall 2. Is there hope left for the game or this new studio? Ps: sent the same question to the Dukes, interested in both your take and the Dukes.

Howdy Fellas, Now I appreciate this may be a question better suited to the Dukes, but with the announcement of the Starfield & camo "wraps" for the X console I can't help but feel like these are a massive after thought from MS? Do you guys agree? Peace!

Hi Sacred Lords, When do you think that the video game medium will be become respected/accepted by the wider human race like film and TV? What is the reason as to why it is seen as a lesser medium? Is it simply a generational thing? The word 'Game'? The fact that it is a newer medium than the others? Maybe it's the increasingly toxic gaming community? Thanks for the amazing content and keep that chicken active.

Hey Sacred Guys, I was listening to last weeks episode and you all were talking about the Audeze acquisition. I’m wondering if this had any ties to PlayStation’s partial ownership of of EVO. This year Sony utilized their InZone (terrible name) monitors for the duration of EVO. I wonder if the bump in audio tech would be to support the FGC who uses sound cues to help during matches. Plus great advertising for the headphones. Just a random thought.

Hi CDC, Is capitalism and the strive for the shareholder dollar damaging innovation within the gaming industry? Loaded question but I thought it would be a good discussion piece none the less. Keep up the great work. Cheers Dave (The pleasure peninsula, Wirral, England)

Hello, Seinfeld fans, What’s the deal with this PS Plus price hike? Did you all happen to think of David Puddy’s stint as a car dealer? “Transport charge, storage surcharge, additional overcharge.” The Saints Row reboot and Generation Zero ushering in the overcharge is a lot like saying, “just sign here and we’ll get you that yellow car ready to go.” So will you pay up or save your money for a trip to Arby’s? All the best, and remember - it’s a setup. They’re all Twix. Twix!

Greetings sacred brethren, Sea of Stars is a damn banger! The game had a strong launch hitting 100,000+ copies sold on Day 1 and currently has a 90 metacritic score. Being my most anticipated game of the year, I can happily say it has exceeded my expectations so far having played about 12 hours. Has Colin or Dustin jumped into this gem yet?

Joseph Losinno

Hey Colin and the LSM merch gurus, I was lucky enough to get a copy of Super of Perils and wanted to thank you guys. My one comment about the next run is do you think it's wise to create a brand new cover variant. This may cause some of us first 500 purchasers to go for another copy. I know it's tough as you marked the first run out of 500 but maybe a more subtle version 2 is all the cover needs. Just looking out for the fans (and potential future complaints). Thanks, Joe

Jeffery Carlson

I’d imagine the goal isn’t for those who already have a copy to procure another one while those who want them and were unable to obtain one are left out

Greetings Sacred Boys, Sea of Stars has come out to critical acclaim. I'm a few hours in and am loving its pixel art, soundtrack, and combat system. I can see it's very inspired by Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG, two games heralded as classic greats of the genre. My question is this: what do you think a new modern release has to do to be talked about in the same breath as classics from 20-30 years ago? Nostalgia and innovation seem to me to be key drivers of acclaim and adoration when it comes to older JRPGs. Can a new game that doesn't innovate but is simply exceptional at all of the hallmarks of the genre be considered one of the greats?

Hello, With the reoccurring talks about people wanting a new PlayStation handheld, it is obvious that it will never happen or be successful without the appropriate amount of support. Looking back to when PSP, GameBoy, and 3DS were succesful, each handheld had dedicated studios to make game for them and not for the main console. GameFreak for Pokemon, the main games never came to the main console until the Switch because there was no other option and it's still technically a handheld device. The only way Playstation could have any success with handhelds is if they create new studios with their only purpose is for it, but why do that, they would be splitting up resources. Nintendo Switch doesnt split resources. The Steamdeck uses the same resources you already own, so no splitting.

Hey, gentlemen. 2023’s been a fantastic year for games, but which title has contributed the best soundtrack? I’ve loved Final Fantasy XVI’s and Armored Core 6’s soundtracks the most, but I’d love to hear what stands out to the three of you. Cheers!

Have you guys tried playing games in different languages with today’s translate tools? I recently played the PS1 version of Dragon Ball Z: Idainaru Dragon Ball Densetsu (or DBZ: The Legend as it’s referred to) with the help of the translate tool on the iPhone. It wasn’t perfect but I was surprised at how good it was at translating the menus and texts. I feel like if this was around when I was younger, I would’ve played a lot more random games especially with the PS1’s open disc spring trick.

Gentlemen. I enjoyed the Hot Take Olympics and while there were some truly preposterous takes, nothing quite enraged me as much as Dustin proclaiming that he considers a “popped collar look” to be suave. It frightening to even consider what other ways of dressing Dustin might think to be acceptable. Colin, are you not worried that your boy will show up to your wedding dressed in a manner that he considers to be suave? All the best wishes, Aron.
