There are less than five months left in the year, but the new releases keep stacking up! Starting in September, the fall releases are upon us, and it's going to be a busy time. We thought it would be fun to go over the remaining months of the year, highlight the games we're most excited about, and share our must-plays. We have a trio of sequels: Spider-Man 2, Helldivers 2, and Alan Wake 2, but there are some smaller titles that are absolutely worth taking a look at as well. Enjoy!

Dustin, keep it up on the bike! I started spinning on a bike in 2020, and I shrunk a shirt size in a year from just doing it once a week. Have a good fast paced playlist, not a podcast, so your heart rate can rise, and you'll see results.

Good call on the Ori games Dustin. I get a month or 2 of GamePass every year, get my fill of games, then dip out. But Ori is the 1 IP I wish they would put on PlayStation. (Besides Halo, but I’ve played those dozens of times)

Agree with you on Control Col!

I think Colin would enjoy Steel Rising. It’s not a long game and I think he will enjoy an alternate story of the French Revolution. Its a highly enjoyable game. Don’t get caught up with the “Souls like” moniker.

(NO SPOILERS) So, regarding Starfield leaks, I’m avoiding them, but I do wonder if people mentioned the performance? Is it locked at 30 with no dips on console, is it running well on PC? Please no story spoilers

I'm with you Colin in renewed interest in Remedy! Those games completely passed me by. I loved playing Alan Wake remastered and then was expecting a let down with Quantum Break (I've always been an Xbox main and never even played it) and was blown away with my enjoyment of it. Now playing Control and it's sublime (love the scientist cut scenes). Thanks for the content! I hope you play Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition at some point (man is it amazing!).

Brogan Trull

I also never played Max Payne games either so am interested in these remakes. I can't believe I missed all of these (I passed Quantum Break bc I heard bad press around release initially also).

Quantum Break is not apart of the Control/Alan Wake universe

I would echo Dustin’s sentiments around the two Ori games, Colin. They are both tremendous. There are a lot of similarities between them and Hollow Knight and I would say that they are arguably better.

Joaquin Branche

I would say all 3 Fables are must plays as well..

Not “officially,” as Microsoft owns the IP, but heavily implied my friend. Will paste below. “Graffiti reading "AWE" can be found throughout Quantum Break. The television show Night Springs is present in Quantum Break. The live-action teaser trailer "Alan Wake's Return" in Quantum Break depicts FBI agents Saga Anderson and Alex Casey, who are central characters in Alan Wake 2. The Old Gods of Asgard are referenced in various occasions throughout Quantum Break, such as through a band named Stonecrow supposedly performing in tribute of the Old Gods. * During a slow-motion section, an office admin can be heard singing "Children of the Elder God." In Quantum Break, a lecture hall blackboard makes various references to the story of Alan Wake (both the character and the franchise) seemingly in the style of a literary analysis, drawing parallels to the hero's journey and even bringing up "This House of Dreams." Separately, another character can be seen playing Alan Wake on a PC. Two copies of Alan Wake's novel The Sudden Stop can be found in Quantum Break, one of which is signed by Wake. In Control, Mr. Door is possibly an allusion to the character Martin Hatch from Quantum Break, who is himself a "shifter" who moves between parallel timelines.”

Gotta disagree with Col on the reaction videos. It’s just fun to see people’s immediate reaction to surprises. If they’re not scripted of course.

Fable, Ori, Dead Rising 3 and Mistwalker's output might interest Colin. There's many more one could recommend, but they lie outside his genre tastes. (There's really no need to disparage the entire Xbox slate because they cater to other tastes though.)

Mike Po

Colin, Quantum Break is still only 30 fps over on Series X. It never got an FPS boost.

Greg McDonald

I gotta think Colin is taking a shot at KF by saying reaction videos are the lowest form of content (and I'm here for it 😂)

More episodes like this please. Doesn’t need a real agenda, just a very casual gaming discussion. Like a SS sequel. Also - I barely touch my Xbox but Colin, Ori 2 on an OLED is a top experience for this gen.

Props to Dustin for the Cities Skylines love. Pandemic allowed me the time to try this game out when it came to PS Plus and it’s one of my most played games ever. On a broader note, loved this episode where you guys are letting your excitement for games steer the conversation. I love traditional LSM content too, but this laissez faire game conversation hit good. Thanks as always.

Colin, it might be worth loading up the final control DLC after you finish Alan Wake. It is called AWE, and has a dual meaning: Altered World Events, and Alan Wake Expansion. I don’t want to spoil anything further, but I think you’d enjoy how it ties the IP together

Messenger

I’m so glad Colin is enjoying Alan Wake. I also played it for the first time this year to prepare for AW2 and I loved it. Played Control and it’s dlc after that as well. Looking forward to the spoiler cast

Big Boss Games

Zack Snyder has some awesome movies. Movies like Dawn of the dead, 300, watchmen are really awesome. Man of Steel was pretty good too. I'm curious about Rebel Moon either way...

Animated

I better hear the US Release date for Earth Defense Force 6...

Jerry Huerta

There’s a rebel moon game coming. That’s why they showed the trailer for the movie

Jerry Huerta

Also Control is fucking awesome
