Recently, I (Colin) sat down and did something unusual: I played through all of Forspoken. As you likely already know, Forspoken came out this past January as a PS5 console exclusive, and it didn't exactly light the world afire. In fact, it's thoroughly mediocre, a surprise considering the pedigree of both its publisher and developer. But that's kind of the point. Everything these days seems to be the best-of-all-time or the worst-thing-ever, with no in between. But it's in between that Forspoken very comfortably rests. It's a game for young adults -- specifically girls -- and games critics and the outspoken industry-types aren't exactly its core audience. I'm not either. But I wanted to give it a chance, and I have a lot to say about it. Coincidentally, so does Gene Park, who reviewed the game at The Washington Post and originally pitched me on the idea of sitting down to talk about it. So we did just that. Fun to play but trite in its delivery, Forspoken may just surprise you for reasons you've not yet considered.

this is great and hilarious at the same time

Chris's Closeted Weeabo Side

I sincerely hope this is actually the very first, and perhaps only, Forspoken spoilercast in human history lmao

Robbie Agnew

The one spoiler cast that I will watch before beating the game! Can’t wait to hear this, good stuff gang.

Tyler Litman

I loved Forespoken. Solid 7.5-8/10 for me. People clowning on it haven't played it. The game is not a looker though

Guns vs Kittens

Did I just spoil that cast with my friggen MiiIiIIiiiND!?

See, this is exactly the kind of good shit that has made me cough up to be a Patreon member. Name me another podcast that gets into the weeds the same way Colin and co do? Would love the same treatment for Ghostwire Tokyo, which is my game of the year by the way. Plenty of good to great games that exist in this space between amazing and garbage. And it’s about time we gave them their due. I remember when The Darkness came out and that was my game of the year. It was the very definition of a 7 out of 10, and yet it spoke to me that year that no other game did. Nuance baby. It’s about time we practiced that more often. PS; I’m personal friends with Tim Lane gaming whose post about Colin’s Amazon box promoted the uniform change on camera. A first for Last Stand Media I believe. So shout out to Tim. Love from us both here in Timmy Tolkien land 😉

Cat Daddy

I'll pull the trigger when it's on ps plus or under $20

I'm literally grinding the side content in Forspoken while listening to this episode. Its a podcast game for sure! Not a bad time at all! Defs an internet punch bag just due to a few hokey lines. I love exploring these 6/7 out of 10 games once in a while. I actually think they can be more interesting to play than some of the 10/10 ones!

Ryan Taylor

My partner: what are you listening too? Me: a multi-hour podcast about a game I have no intention of playing. Partner: oh is it supposed to be really good? Me: no.

The Devmeister

Colin the word you were looking for was hyperbole! Love the show.

Trapgunner

Get the money. Get the Cat. Get the fuck out sounds like a tagline to a heist movie.

PuppiesOnParade

You would use Sacred Symbols + episode 300 for Forspoken lol

king_ryan_james

I think Gary Whitta wrote the lore for this and not the actual dialogue or story

TIger Castle

Does the sacred symbols + tag bring everyone else to the list of regular SS eps or is it just my dumb phone
