We've waited so long for a fresh PlayStation Showcase that it came as a bit of a shock to be sitting there watching a new one. Yet we did just that, and frankly, we were left feeling a little bit underwhelmed. It's not to say that potentially-amazing games weren't shown-off, because they were. Out of the 34 titles seen, many of them looked great. But a lack of a truly meaningful first and second party presence coupled with gameplay scarce makes it's hard to feel too excited about what Haven or Firewalk are toiling away on when we somehow still don't have a release date for Spider-Man 2, when Factions remains as much of a mystery as it was before, when a predictable reliance on new PvP products nonetheless leaves some fans distressed. We take the time to go game-by-game, from Fairgame$ and Helldivers II right on through Marathon and Concord, covering all that the event had to offer. We also do a 'regular show' around that, touching on the other news from the week, with plenty of listener inquiries, too. Are you feeling better than you were pre-Showcase, PlayStation fans? As usual, it's likely just a matter of perspective.

Dont sleep on the actual Starship Troppers game on Steam. It released very recently, is in early access, and the closest thing to Left 4 Dead since Left 4 Dead. It has that simplicity that Back 4 Blood didnt have.

I love Bandai namco and was initially interested in Blue Protocol. Then it was announced that they partnered with Amazon Games which is known for censoring games. Of course, this game is no different. They are changing outfits for female characters in the west that covered up their shoulders and pants going down to thighs/knees. It’s like the Amish or neo puritans. So definitely a no go for me

Showing a bunch of CGI trailers with little-to-no gameplay is unacceptable. Indie games are cool, but do not belong in something called a PlayStation Showcase. The absolute lack of 1st-party was disappointing.

That was a 10/10 State of Play and a 6/10 Showcase. Other than Spider-Man there were 0 1st-party single-player games and 0 1st-party gameplay trailers. With the focus on service games and hardware it felt like the presentation was more for investors.

The foamstars thing, splatoon 3 sold alot. Games media voted it best multiplayer game of the year 2022. That's why it exist. Not for me, but I can see why it's being made.

As a playstation fan I'm so happy we have Haven instead of Japan Studio. Also, really? Only one movie trailer? Xbox gets a lot of crap, but if bloodborne was an Xbox game we would have had a way to play it at 60 fps years ago. Whether that be on pc or elsewhere.

On the topic of people wanting to quit video games. My uncle who is 67 for some reason was curious about video games. He was a high school principle for decades and never thought about video games. I showed him Hogwarts, Flight Simulator and then I showed him the education mode in the newer Assassins Creed games. He said something funny. "You never have to leave your couch". But he does somewhat get it now which made me happy.

You guys say the showcase was a B but it feels like you guys are all very disappointed. The energy is so different from the earlier recording and the after showcase recording.

This showcase was an unforced error. How do you see Microsoft against the ropes in the way that they’ve been for the last few months, and then show up with THIS? The most exciting thing was Spiderman and we’ve known about this game since 2020, and they ended with it, no stinger, no other big first party updates or reveals. That showcase was garbage. So tired of just CGI trailers with no gameplay. If it doesn't have gameplay it doesn't count. Put that shit in a blogpost. TRASH

A gameplay trailer that looks like a Ubisoft game that you won’t even play is a banger Col? 🧐 Totally agree with Chris that Helldivers 2 looks like a GamePass game. Chris jokes about why doesn’t Bungie have a son in their game, but I’d take Bungie doing a single player FPS story game over an extraction game any day. Especially when they already have 1 mp game, and they’re gonna segment their own audience with Marathon.

Unrelated to this show but it would be cool if Uncle Nick Scarpino could be on Constellation or some show where it would fit. Scarpino and Milk Mommy Kevin are the only ones from GoG (outside of Colin) /KF that I miss hearing their banter.

In NM we rock a big portion of our yard, no sand, just to save water which is precious here. I’m actually in Northern NM, which is really high elevation ~7000 ft. There are some lawns but it’s frankly a major chore and water bill since we have 300 days of sun annually. Beautiful place to live though, surrounded by the Rockies.

Going to have to issue a stand down to Dustin for his The Walking Dead insults, that show granted does get bad, but it really finds it's feet again if you persist. I personally think season 9 is the best season

Cat quest is awesome, isometric view and a nice intro to rpg, the mechanics are really precise, I managed to play well even on stinky switch, Oh and there is a Platinum trophy.
