Unbelievably, the moment has finally come: A PlayStation showcase draws near. By the time the hour-plus event concludes, it'll have been more than 600 days since the last showcase in '21. In other words, Sony simply has to bring the heat, and we suspect they will. This week, let's take the time to dissect PlayStation's potential first, second, and third party plans for its mid-gen coming-out, and get into some other news in the ecosystem, too, including the reveal of a Mortal Kombat reboot and strong indications that Grand Theft Auto VI is nearing its end-phase of development. Listener inquiries help us explore other interesting topics as well, including nudity in games, Sony's potential to sell Zelda-like numbers, and how we "earn" our gaming time. Colin, every time you talk about how nobody with ADD is writing 5000 word walkthroughs, it makes me want to tear my hair out. That is absolutely what kids with ADD are doing, I would just read the dictionary and write down every definition I thought was cool.

Coming from someone with a medical background - Colin, I honestly feel like your assumption is correct. I also don’t have ADHD etc but my focus problems started when I got a smart phone. Everyone’s attention has been divided between so many different things that focus has become harder. ADHD and the medication for it is so over prescribed and is causing tons of issues long term for kids and adults. The medication destroys you over time. Today, people don’t want to critique the things that have made their life “easier/more convenient” and along with many other issues, would rather have pills thrown at them.

Hey Colin, just starting to listen but on Windows computers you can take a screenshot that isn't saved to your clipboard by pressing Window key + Print Screen. This saves your entire screenshot to your picture folder. At that point you can crop the image and share. Hope this helps for future funnies that may be lost due to the copy and paste process and hope you have a great Friday.

I blame my phone, shorts and YouTube ads for my ADD. If a 15 second YouTube ad pops up before I watch a video I want to lose damn my mind. It’s only 15 seconds but fuck man I get anxious now. It has hindered my ability to focus on video games now. Especially since I quit weed in November.

Colin, I also used to catch myself looking at my phone while playing games many times, but I have fixed it where I can tell I’m not doing it anymore. What I did for a long time is I throw my phone across the room to my bed or on the other side of the couch whenever I fought myself looking at it while playing or doing something else. It is a bad habit. Try catching yourself and putting the phone far away to break the habit while playing.

I can see where Colin’s coming from on Zelda. BOTW and TOTK are very different, and the threads of what came before are there, but this is a new direction. I love it now, but I don’t think we will ever have the simplicity of Ocarina again. There’s a quaintness there that is gone. Bigger isn’t better for everyone.

I could not afford to game if I had to pay $70 per game. My solution $15 for Gamepass $15 for PS Plus Extra. I still haven’t played God of War but have played Ghost of Tsushima, Horizion Forbidden West, Miles Morales and Days Gone plus many others this year for only $30 a month.

Yeah Dustin explained better why I thought that Deviation announcement was weird. Summer Game Fest is a showcase where games are shown off. So everyone else is showing their games, and here comes Deviation strolling in without a game to show. Not even a jpeg of the title. Thanks for answering my question.

Colin on the whole $70 games thing. It's funny how all these game news outlets have been posting articles with a headline harping on software sales are down since the price increase. And you read the article and only briefly mention that revenue is still up despite unit sales are down. Like do they not get publishers don't care if the bottom line is up? Or do they figure people just read the headline and run with that?

My advice to you would be eBay. Get stuff super cheap, including GamePass. I usually only pay like $2-4 for a month of ultimate whenever there’s something I want to play, and then I wait until games are half-off or so.

Hearing that Megaman Battle Network is selling well is awesome. I got both battle network and Totk within the same week and while I think zelda is an exponentially superior game, I am way more into Battle Network atm. The nostalgia kick and gameplay feel great.

Zelda isn’t doing it for me either. I long considered Zelda my favorite series, and I really enjoyed BOTW, so I have no idea why. It was so upsetting that I decided to platinum RE4 instead - I’m broken or something lol

Colin I heard you say you've started walking for exercise. I've been doing that for a few months also. Stop by your local Academy Sports and picked up a adjustable weighted vest. The one by BCG is only $65 and can go up to 40lbs. It's a great way to get a little extra oomf out of your walks! Also the vest looks tactical so it makes you look like some kind of vigilante

I don’t understand not liking BOTW or Tears because of puzzles. I must have imagined all those puzzles in LTTP and Ocarina. I think what Colin hates is the survival elements that have been added. Fair enough, but he kept saying puzzles.

Yeah it was very weird. What did he like about the older games then? They were way more puzzle focussed then these new games. These games are more sandboxes. Though puzzles are still really important

Growing up cutting weight while wrestling definitely did irreversible damage do my metabolism. But I will say (and maybe it's the old jock still in me) once I got back into working out after college I honestly forgot how much I enjoyed it. Now I use my fitness goals to "earn" things like new tattoos, a few new books or some Gundam/Lego build kits lol.

I lost 40lbs in the last year. 220 down to 180. I gave up all snacks and cut out all added sugar. I also started working out. The best thing I bought was a rowing machine. Never felt or looked better at 40 years old.

With the platinum thing - surely the question to ask yourself is; “did I get more satisfaction from the DI2/Forspoken platinum than I would have playing Dying Light 2?”. It’s just intrinsic vs extrinsic value.

Guys, your discussion about game prices misses the mark, especially when you mention foreign markets. This gen started in 2019, before the massive inflation jump, and rising cost of the dolar. The jump in US was $10, roughly 15%, meanwhile here in EU the jump from PS3's $60 dolar price to current '$70' was like $50 (189 of my currency to 359 atm) - around 90% (though the prices already increased in the PS4 gen by ~30%, here, since Sony offloaded EU tax to their consumers). Lots of other markets face the same reality, it's not just us, but at this point, I honestly don't hear anyone complaining anymore - some of us simply stopped buying full priced games at launch, and took advantage of PS+ extra.

Real poop stories…. Last time a shit my pants I was in the second grade. I had to go to the bathroom room so bad so I got up and just told the teacher I’m going to the bathroom. I started speed walking because I didn’t want to look weird running down the hall and it just slipped out halfway to the bathroom, so I just kept going so no one would noticed I had just pooped my pants. Made it to the bathroom, wiped as much poop and shit stains off as I could and went back to class just to whisper to the teacher that I had an accident and needed to call my my….I got a new pair of pants dropped off at the office within an hour😎
