We're under a month away from Xbox's defining (!) showcase and PlayStation is officially set to strike first. In our last episode, we mulled over the pressure that Xbox faces as the morale is low for both fans and executives alike if Phil Spencer's recent interview was anything to go by. One aspect we tackled following the increasing rumors was a reality where Xbox would be on the receiving end of a most unfortunate double edged sword. That blade being the incompetency shown in Redfall and the bad timing for Xbox of PlayStation making a major public splash while they're arguably at their worst. Sure, there are State Of Plays for varying degrees of quality, but make no mistake: PlayStation only comes around with a showcase when there are major things to be shown. Undoubtedly, this will up the ante on what Xbox needs to do to make an impact. Plus, the EU approves Xbox's acquisition of Activision Blizzard King, some scoops on the 12 month window being removed from Xbox's show, the developer of Somerville says Game Pass hurt his game, and much more in the world of Xbox!

The Somerville thing is weird to me. Unfortunately you do need to hook people immediately regardless of medium or they will pass on it. I’ve absolutely put down games I’ve payed for after an hour if they don’t hook me. Most of us have priorities outside of games and need to value our time with experiences we enjoy. 🤷‍♂️

I disagree respectfully a little bit with Cog when he says that the xbox ecosystem is the place to be if you’re a tech enthusiast. They used to be far better in the xbox 360 and even on the Xbox One era although not as much as in the 360. The 360 had so many features for its time that came to the other platforms literally a generation later like party chat for instance. Xbox has so many initiatives that the console updates get a lot less love than they used to unfortunately.

Great episode lads! I don't quite understand the write in comparing Starfield 30fps to Zelda 30fps. To me it's as simple as Starfield isn't releasing on a portable console, it's releasing on the 'most powerful' console in the market. If the switch was capable of running games at 60fps and Zelda didn't meet the standard then it would definitely be a bigger criticism.

In regards to the data from “Sony” about game sales down. It’s flawed data coming from a Tweaktown article referencing Activision and Sony. The data specifically compares spending of the last year against inflated game sales of pandemic years where everyone was at home and bored. Game sales are right in line with pre pandemic spending. $70 games aren’t going anywhere.

That is criteria that exists as or secretly contains latent or undiscovered fears within certain people. If it makes you uncomfortable as it’s presented in F&H, then it it is drawing out the fears and discomfort you have about sexuality and sex. Which is totally normal. A lot of people can have that to varying degrees. Maybe F&H isn’t the best example just because it is extremely gratuitous. But the gratuity is serving an actual purpose for its genre. I think there are definitely games that just use it for surface level sex appeal and it doesn’t add anything.
