Following the Redfall 30 FPS surprise and the Square Enix debate, Xbox fans are certainly on edge now. With "check-to-check energy" in their veins, another game has skipped the platform while reaching literally every single other. That game is Oxenfree II which follows in the footsteps of Capcom's Mega Man Battle Network Collection, Larian Studios' Baldur's Gate 3, as well as the abundance of Square Enix games. With hardware sales falling for Series consoles in the EU as PlayStation 5 is up an insane 369% on hardware sales, one has to wonder if the lack of appeal is reaching both consumers and developers. The Dukes dig into the scuttlebutt as the reactions are growing stronger with this continued trend. It is starting to show that no matter the significance of the game they're missing out on, the reaction will be there until Xbox begins to be more consistent like its competitors. Plus, Joe Staten's destination revealed, the old guard has been swapped out for Halo, SEGA makes a surprising acquisition, Diablo IV goes gold, and much more!

I'm expecting Oxenfree 2 Will be announced for game pass during the Xbox event in June. -The original was on Game Pass -Afterparty was on Game Pass -The developers are likely waiting so they can secure pre-orders on other platforms first.

Another banger thumbnail per usual

I hope inXile is working on a remake of Fallout 1 or 2. I think we need the Resident Evil treatment for Fallout after 76.

If Microsoft can say no redfall for Playstation, they can certainly say not to have Denuvo.

I think this might go slightly deeper if we assume that publishers/devs see Gamepass as harmful to their business. Assuming that’s true; and a la carte sales of games are relatively low on Xbox platforms - publishers would have an active interest in not bringing games to Xbox.

Xbox has successfully conditioned its audience to not buy the only profitable part of the industry - the games.

Felt I had to chime in on the Frank O'Connor dismissal. This is one of the best things for the future stories in the Halo universe, games, shows, books. The reason the franchise has been so incoherent since 4, with things being left out of games and direction changes, is literally all on Frank O'Connor. The decision to put important events in books that like 5% of the fanbase max reads was his idea. The incorporation of the books into key narrative events for 4 and 5 was also him, making Halo 5 especially, a confusing mess. Don't forget the TV show you had to watch to know who Agent Locke was, and now he's gone too with no explanation. Frank O'Connor is what happens when you take a community manager with no experience in game dev, and make him the head of the franchise he was community manager for. A decade plus of disasters lore-wise was the result. The 343 clean house couldn't have come soon enough.

An American company will never be able to buy a Japanese company.
