Hello!

Ben, Kara Lynn, and I (Dustin) will be recording a spoilercast on Hogwarts Legacy. We want you to be a part of it!

In preparation for our spoilercast and review discussion, submit your questions, comments, concerns, thoughts, and ideas below. Please keep things well-written or pithy; poorly-written screeds and novellas are politely ignored. Please note: we ask that you keep your questions centered around the game itself, not the surrounding controversies.

You have until Tuesday, March 14th at 3:00 PM EST to get your thoughts in. Talk soon! <3

One question - is there any place cozier than Hogsmeade?

Hello,

Diego Macias

Greetings 5th years, What was everyone's favorite mission or side quest? Mine was The Polyjuice Plot were you had to pass yourself off as Professor Black, it was one of the funniest sequences I've played in a game ever.

I loved this game. But I quickly had to check my expectations. I was expecting a school curriculum and attending classes often between missions. Much like in Bully. Did any of you get this impression from the trailers or was it just me? As I side note I definitely enjoyed the Sebastian and Poppy side quests the most. More than the main story itself. And one last question, does it get any more cosy than Hogsmeade?

Hello witches and wizards! What did you guys think of the side quest Minding Your Business? I personally was not expecting any horror elements in this game so it caught me by surprise to have to go through mannequin infested halways. I thoroughly enjoyed this side quest even after getting soft locked twice in the rotating chambers. Hopefully they'll fix that for future players. Have a you can't imagine how tedious travel was before the invention of floo powder kind of day!

Heyo guys and gal In a potential sequel I would like to see a time jump post graduation, allowing us to choose a career in the ministry with a morality system similar to mass effect, allowing us to go more into the dark arts. What are y’all’s thoughts? Thanks!

Greetings fellow fifth years, First, let me just say that I thoroughly enjoyed my playthrough of Hogwarts Legacy. From its wonderful sense of place to the beautiful orchestral score, to the exhilarating feeling and freedom of flying around on a broom, to the rather evil act of turning someone into an explosive barrel and yeeting it towards another enemy; this game was easily one of the best open world games I’ve played in the past five years. However, as I pulled into my 50th hour of the game I couldn’t help but notice some pretty obvious shortcomings that I feel really hampered my overall experience with the game: 1. In the year of our lord 2023 why do some loot-driven games not include the ability to “sell all”? 2. The Room of Requirement is a fun distraction, but sadly nothing more. It becomes useless once you hit the mid to late game. 3. The entire loot system is useless at the end of the day. Just numbers going up, while I attach the same mods, and rarely upgraded anything since I knew I was inevitably getting better gear rather quickly. Looking forward to an inevitable sequel that hopefully addresses some of the above. Keep up the excellent work as always!

Hey gang, I haven't played this game but I want to know your guys' thoughts on one of the controversies surrounding it. No, not THAT controversy, but the controversy around the Goblins. Some say that the Goblins are meant to be anti-semitic stereotypes, since they have large noses and work at the bank. Those comparisons have been drawn from the source material, but some gamers have found content specifically from the game that might enforce the idea. A collectible that resembles a Jewish war horn that can only be silenced by stuffing it with gorgonzola, a non kosher cheese. References to the Cossack Riots, atrocities committed against the Jewish people in 1648-1657. And most obviously, the main story, where you're tasked with squashing a goblin rebellion. Are these just coincidences or something more? Would love to know what you guys think. Thanks!

Hello! All I ask is y’all touch upon the AMAZING shopkeeper side quest in Hogsmeade. I enjoyed this game I finally put it down at hour 72. My Girlfriend was loving it so much I bought her a ps5, and she just 100% the game at hour 92. Thank you and love from H -Town (hol it down)

Adam Barnes

Hey gang, Please tell me at least one of you sees through the hype goggles and recognises this game for the 6.5 that it is. The IP holds a lot of weight for this game and I think people are being way too generous with their scores. Cheers guys

Dennis Löfgren

Hey, would you have rather seen this game ditch the main story and be more of a Hogwarts student experience?

Josh Kisskalt

Hey all! I am a huge Wizarding World fan, and this game brought me joy like no other game (except for FromSoftware releases). With strong sales all but guaranteeing a sequel, I am curious what improvements do you most want to see for the next game? For me it's wanting more of the school experience, Hogwarts was so amazing but outside of activating a quest, I rarely spent there after the first few hours of the game. Thanks and keep a rockin!

Hey guys, what’re you up to now? The commercial success suggests they’ll make a sequel, but (for me at least) the majority of this games magic comes from exploring Hogwarts like never before. How can this experience be replicated, let alone improved? Do you think Natty’s story is teasing a year spent at Uagadu? CUNTFRINDO

Hey guys, I was having a great time with the game in the early hours, exploring Hogwarts and the surrounding area was fantastic, but around midpoint in the game it kind of just fell off for me. Had they played more into developing meaningful relationships with the other characters and interacting more with them outside of their quests, I think this could have went from a pretty solid game to something spectacular. My character felt more like a tourist than actually belonging and living in that world. Did any of you have a similar experience?

Bruce The Genetic Jackhammer Rando

Story and characters fell so flat for me, such a waste as everything else in the game was perfect and exactly what I wanted

Hey Guys & Gal, Even though I’m not a big Harry Potter fan, I made a Wizarding World account and did all the housing shenanigans & whatnot to be involved with my friend’s conversations (but the house cloak you get after linking accounts is really cool.) I once made a comment that Hufflepuffs seem to be the glue-eating kids in the corner of Hogwarts… to only be sorted in Hufflepuff myself. Did you three do the Pottermore/Wizarding World account link or just go into the game fresh, and what houses were you sorted into?

Gondotheslayer

Hello all, Teachers at Hogwarts are very forgiving. I showed up to class 10 times the whole year, and I murdered thousands of people right in front of them. Learned a lot - would recommend.

Hey gang, As an HP fan since 2nd grade, I adore this game. However, I was a little disappointed that companions only join during specific missions and you can't bring them along for side quests (like in a Bioware game). Would you have perferred a more Bioware-like approach with the companion character? Or do you think the mission style suits this game more? Thank you as always!

Hey Team, what are your thoughts on the voice acting? I found it to be the weakest aspect of the game, and ended up putting in a podcast for most of the game after a few hours. I just couldn’t deal with the nasally British tones anymore!

Anonymous

Hey DBK To what extent do you think the IP does the heavy lifting of the acclaim this game has received? It's almost as though critic reviews need to be sorted into 'is a Harry potter fan' and 'isnt a Harry potter fan', with many reviews outright stating one of the two positions. Hello Wizarding Crew, The one thing I really appreciated playing this game is the strong sound design and soundtrack. It felt like I was in one of the movies, showing just how strong the musical motifs from the films actually are. Did you three feel the music and audio had an impact on you?

Hammertime44

Hey Gang, I'll keep this short and sweet. As I played through the game I got more bored throughout. This game to me is a Ubisoft game with a Harry Potter skin and by the end I was glad the game was over. I got really sick of the open world tendencies that are in all modern games with level requirements and grind. Thoughts on the open world activities and if you got bored by the end?

Hey fellas, Are you disappointed that learning the dark arts didn’t really amount to anything? Even choosing the “bad ending” doesn’t really change the story at all. It felt like there was an illusion of choice especially since your character always did come off as a Goody two shoes with no real options in dialogue to be “bad” besides demanding money for completing a quest or simply choosing to not give someone an item they requested.

Devon McCarty

Sacred Wizards, Hogwarts Legacy looks like such a great foundation to build on. What DLC, spin offs, or sequels do you expect/want to see going forward? Have a great show!

macdaddyx4

Hello everybody! Switch owner here, waiting for the theorized release of this game. Do you think this game can actually run on the Switch with massive handicaps? Or will Warner Brothers throw an invisibility cloak over the entire port?

Nathan Densley

Hello Ben, Kara, and Dustin, And hey there listeners! How are you doing? Not too bad? Well shoot, that's good. Hogwarts castle is one of the coolest locations in videogames. So many hidden gems and cool random actions popping up. What is your favourite spot in the castle? And I know you Ben, you are going to try to say a place that isn't in the castle to be different, don't you dare you big bear.

William Rudrum

Hey, guys so in light of the failed boycott, how good the game is and how well it has already sold something like 13 million in 2 weeks? Do you think a sequel is planned abd where do you think they can take the franchise. I mean we already have hogwarts and surrounding area so they can't simply just expand or have a new map? Or do they just leave it alone as a one and done? (Hahaha).

Anonymous

Hello beautiful podcasters. Will there be a quidditch based DLC in the future? It seems like it was a planned part of the game, but was taken out during development. Sorry if this was asked before.

Wesali1996

Hi all! What did you all think of the constant loot cycle as a way to incentivise exploration & quest completion etc? As someone who was heavily into the student at hogwarts roleplay I often found myself only wearing some sort of school uniform. After around 30 hours I decided there was no real reason to complete much more of the game since a lot of the loot was quite random, dragon glasses anyone? Personally I wish there was a bit more of a reason to explore and complete the 4000 merlin trials.

Hey guys and gals! Mind if I slytherin with a quick question? The games weak story clearly wasn’t written by J.K Rowling so do you think it’s possible for the sequel to bring her in to atleast supervise the next entry alittle more? Because clearly the boycott didn’t work so why not go all in next time when even more time has passed and people have forgotten about the controversy?

Hello Kara, Ben and Dustin, I wanted to contribute to this spoilercast since I am one of the 0.8% of PS5 players who got the Platinum trophy on hard mode in about 80 hours. However, even on hard mode I still found the game too easy, I hope they release a harder difficulty in a future DLC. My biggest complaint about the game are the missed opportunities that Avalanche clearly had in mind but ultimately skipped, most likely due to release time constraint. For example, no choice in the game really has any impact on the characters or story (except the ultimate choice with Sebastian). I would have loved a morality system where you could ultimately become a Dark Wizard with a bad ending if you constantly picked evil choices. One that would see your dark wizard side increase the more unforgivable curses you use, or when you try to get more money or rewards from side quests. Another complaint is that the room of requirement holds no purpose other the functional aspect of crafting things. Conjuring things to make your vivarium more lively would ultimately only be for your eyes alone since there are no online co-op capabilities. I still loved the game, exploring Hogwarts and the combat system were a childhood dream come true. I cannot wait to see a sequel where Avalanche can learn from these user feedback and give us a game that doesn't feel like so many aspects are ultimately pointless.

Levelupbrady

What was your favorite spell in the game?

Mike Po

Hey gang, Did you all notice that there are no fake doors/buildings in this game? In almost every open world game I've played, at least 85% of the buildings and doors are inaccessible and just there for show. However, I couldn't find a single building or door anywhere in this game that was purely for show. In fact, I found myself spending an inordinate amount of time just walking into building interiors in Hogsmeade and the various hamlets to check out how beautifully detailed everything was. Do you all believe this game has set a new standard for open world games in this regard?

Anonymous

Hello distinguished friends, Having recently gotten the platinum trophy for the game myself and not being a platinum hunter. I was wondering if any of you did the same and why you did or did not? It was tedious but i just genuinely enjoyed exploring the world and collecting lore. Also what was your favorite spell? I enjoyed Bombarda cause…BOOM! Thanks all and hope to see you all continue thriving!

Michael centeno

Hello Kara,Ben and Dustin Hogwarts has been an amazing experience but I must say the spell combat is what sticked out to me the most and I was wondering what spell combinations you liked using? My favourite was using Accio,Galcius and then Incendio. Was very helpful when there was enemies surrounding you.

Joe West

Hello friends! Just a quick question, as someone who is not at all into Harry Potter is the game worth a full $70 to you? Thanks for all that you do in the LSM family!

Tacoyaki

Hey there guys! How did you guys react when you first got on your broom? What did you guys do? I was personally amazed at the amount of freedom the game gives you (except for places such as Hogsmeade, Hogwarts, etc.). While there are several games in the past (such as Anthem) that utilises free roam flying, do you think Hogwarts Legacy will define, or at the very least push the gaming industry in a direction where we’ll see more titles in the future with free-roam flying to the extent of HogLeg? Thanks as always! El Psy Congroo
