NOTE: The video version will be out shortly. Sorry for the delay!

Sony has never so much as acknowledged the existence of the British team known as Ballistic Moon, but that hasn't stopped sleuths from figuring out as far back as last summer that they're working on a PlayStation exclusive called Project Bates. But in recent days, something interesting happened: Sony kinda-sorta referred to Ballistic Moon as a first party team in a job listing, which they later amended. And you may remember that Sony in fact clumsily leaked their acquisition of Bluepoint months before they properly revealed it. Is something up here? Possibly so; we'll let you decide. Other news this week includes an awesome new array of games on PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium, rumors of PlayStation-branded earbuds, the approach of the long-shambling Dead Island 2, and more. Listener inquiries round things out, as always. Is it okay to dislike BioShock? How come Colin thinks it's weird when media-types jump to publishers and developers? What exactly does the term 'survival horror' actually mean? Just what's happening at Wal-Mart, anyway?

The write-in about th listener forcing Sacred Symbols down his family's throat is the first time that a listener message has ever felt truly made up to me. #FakeNews Also, Chris and I have the same middle name!

Mickey D’s will now forever be known as Sneaky Ron’s.

“Gotten in bed with… teams that offer services.” Ooaaooohh

Chris, you’re in Burbank and have a prime example of Walmart vs Target in the Empire Center. The Walmart here is newer than Target, yet there’s a stark shopping experience difference between the two. I think 5 minutes in each should tell the whole story!

Doug Hogancamp

Guys as far as headphones go. No joke I fell for the Racon headphones add and I have to say there fantastic. Battery last forever, there comfortable and there reasonable priced. 5 star rating.

Very great episode fellas! Colin, I'm so glad you mentioned how awful Jedi Fallen Order's map was. It makes navigation near impossible. It's so frustrating as someone who got the platinum in the game

Bogey Zero

Would you consider Alan Wake a survival horror? The devs themselves said they’re switching to survival horror for the sequel, implying that they don’t consider the first one survival horror. Even though you’re managing resources. Same with TLOU. I don’t consider them survival horror.

You guys fell for the bait regarding that wired review, which to be entirely honest you guys fall for all types of kotaku/polygon/etc pieces. Who cares, the article obviously was trying to be instigating and provocative just based on the number they gave. “Do not work with wired?” Idk....I mean do we want to be like that? Come on... Sure we can question it, disagree with it, think differently about wired, completely ignore it (please?). But idk about anything else besides that.

Chris doesn't share food.

Hey Colin. About the going to work at games when you're on the critic side. It doesn't really raise my alertness, unless they go back and forth. That's like your being a critic till you get your next job, and that's super shady

Beau!

I started Alone in the Dark on the Gameboy online collection. Then 3hrs past by. Good game!

Sacred Symbols 242: Sneaky Rons

I haven’t played Hogleg at all, or even seen much footage. But isn’t it set during the 19th century or something? That might be why everyone has such polite manners.

TROTMAC96

Over here in the UK, we call McDonald's maccies.

Aladin_Run

I'm also not enjoying Bioshock. I feel bad for saying that, but it's true. I'll keep trying though.

Luke Silletta

This might be a Canadian thing but we call Mcdonalds Mcdicks. Many a drunk weekend at midnight someone would say "Lets get some Mcdicks".

I think hogwarts would have sold this much even without the controversy but now it’s gonna sell a lot more because of its controversy and it will stay in the public eye longer.

The survival horror question hits home. It's one of my oldest loves. To be honest a lot of what people call survival horror I personally wouldn't. I've always taken the genre to be best summarised as being faced with a specific choice - having to decide whether you take a run down a hallway, conserve ammo and probably take a hit, or shooting the five rounds to clear one of the threats so you can weave about and conserve health. It's a genre name coined by RE1, from the splash screen when you save that reads "You have once again entered, the world of survival horror, Good luck!" The entire loop of that game is what I described above. It's a limiting definition because to be honest, it even discounts games like Silent Hill as I don't think that core trade off is really that present in that game given how useful mellee is, hell I'd argue it discounts RE3 somewhat. I wish we had a "Survival Horror-like" name to characterise stuff like Rule of Rose, Amnesia and arguably Outlast as games that share features of the genre, but don't completely fulfill it.

Last I checked, there was no RSS feed for Spotify. Which seems unbelievable by the way, so I’m open to being told how dense I am and how to do it.

Bos10George

I work in IT. It is maddening how many people use the caps lock button instead of shift. It's seriously like 40%.

Kenneth Oms

Chris saying he can’t enjoy hogwarts legacy because everyone is too polite is the cynical New Yorker in him coming out.

Ray

Wireless Bluetooth earbuds have poor audio latency that requires video output on your phone or other device to be delayed so it syncs properly. The Sony Playstation earbuds will likely be developed for PS5 to have proprietary software/hardware that allows for a very low latency connection. This is why the Pulse 3D headset has a USB dongle.

Zorro

Btw guys, most of the music in Hogwarts are classical songs from famous composers like Bach, Chopin, Pachelbel and I’m pretty sure I heard Dvorak.

Fotis Lyto

Hey Colin, when you do a spoilercast for HogLeg do you think Troy Levit would want to be on, I think he would have a unique perspective on it.

Jason Polite

I literally had the same Dustin Chipotle experience last week. Even got the same buy one get one offer and had the same response of why would I spend more money?

Fotis Lyto

Hopefully you'll be able to arrange it, have a great show dude, hopefully when you come to Europe I will be able to come to see you guys live.

Cornelius

I use caps lock instead of shift. So I took a typing test to see where I'm at. I typed 60 wpm at 99% accuracy. I don't know how fast Colin is but I honestly don't think it hinders my typing that much.

MISZCZOGRZMOT

One female character in a skirt had detailed textures of her lady bits in og Dead Island. It was promptly patched out, of course.

Zorro

Oh yeah sure, also by Hogwarts in mean the castle not the entire game.

Gabriel Baker

Good to hear from Chris!

Cyberpunk 2077 has vaginal nudity

Bobby Woods

It was pretty dumb to think Hogwarts legacy was going to be even close to a 1/10 or anything like that. If you’ve been playing games long enough you could just tell this game was going to succeed. Clowns thinking this is a 1/10 haven’t seen a game like mindjack back on 360. Which is an actual 1/10

Samuel Ashley

Might be too late for y’all to see this but I highly recommend checking out a Freebirds while in Houston. It’s a chain that started in texas and it’s essentially a chipotle x1000. Gonna be a quick trip for y’all but if you’re in the mood for a made to order burrito, it’s definitely the spot to check out.

Samuel Ashley

Also you see full vagina in cyberpunk during a Jonny silverhand flashback with his girlfriend. Was definitely a first for me in video games.
