The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel Spoilercast | Sacred Symbols+, Episode 255

It's true: We're about seven years late on this one. But better late than never, as they say, for I (Colin) have recently experienced my very first Trails game and am eager to talk about it. To do so, I enlisted the help of the person who convinced me to give the game a go to begin with: MrMattyPlays. Together, we take a trip to Erebonia and delve deep into the life and times of Thors Military Academy's Class VII. And hey, don't let the anime aesthetic fool you, either. What's perhaps most interesting about Trails of Cold Steel is its subject matter: The military-industrial complex, class divides, the haves and the have nots, and war and peace. Some with us, friends, as we spoil the crap out of this awesome Falcom game. Who knows? Maybe we'll even develop a very special social link with each other along the way.

I'm a huge huge fan of this series and I agree that after 2 go back to sky and zero/Azure before continuing on

I'm glad you gave the series a chance. Hopefully sky will come to PS at some point. If not maybe try one of the other games available for PS or keep going with CS Games. I'd rather see you get into the series than stop just because first arc isn't available on your platform of choice.

I don’t know how far Colin is now but at some point the PS4 version of CS2 on PS5 has a game crashing bug that blocks progression that I believe remains unfixed. I think there are workarounds but I’d hate for him to get super far into the story and run into that nasty bug

You can probably play Sky 1-3 on your phone with the backbone through Steam Remote Play on your phone. But I would personally recommend to move on to Cold Steel 2 to finish the arc you're in first.

I 100% concur with the panel. Too many people/story threads will go over your head if you just power through from C.S.2 to C.S.3

There's always the psp versions but the only issues are the minor localization errors and what not but no turbo mode. Steam Deck feels enticing for it. Good thing is Zero/Azure are on ps now

nope, sky 3rd on PSP was never released in the west. only the first two are. As things are Colin's just not playing them anytime soon. The publisher mentioned remaking the sky series in the future as a "possibility" but it's extremely unlikely because of the amount of translation they need to do. Just not worth the funding. I would just move onto CS3 because he really doesn't have a choice outside of steamdeck.

Honestly I was surprised Colin was ok with the fan service type stuff and Matty was trying to excuse it. I think that’s highly overblown. People in general are sexual with each other in real life with flirting etc and these games and most anime in general are way waaaaay tamer than general pop culture and shows like game of thrones. People and characters are three dimensional and attraction is part of that. I’m glad it didn’t devolve into some “I love anime but anything sexual is icky” type conversation. It was nice seeing you guys talk about the game and it will be cool to see the journey of Colin in one of the best JRPG series

I played the first two a couple of years ago, but I stalled out with the third one. I enjoyed it a lot, I just need to go back. I've listened to Matty talk about it since and I understand I'm missing a lot by only playing this series, but I don't want to sink the time into all the other side-games. I look forward to listening to and/or watching this.

I was expecting them to touch on that, so I'm glad you commented. It can have a place in games, but *fade to black* is likely for the best. There is certainly far worse on places like Steam for sure.

It’s just contradictory. People love things like game of thrones, most pop media and music/celebrity culture, or even talk about how prostitution should be legalized etc, yet anime boobs are a bridge too far. It makes zero sense

Agreed on that. I have no interest in tracking down the other games on PC, regardless of if my PC can play it or not. Maybe Gamepass (if it were ever there), but I do not even regularly subscribe to that.
