Lose All Sense of Reality | Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast Episode 227

It's hard to stop a moving train, and when big corporations make meaningful decisions, the results occur over years, not days, weeks, or months. It's clear now that Sony's PSVR2 is stuck between a rock and a hard place -- there's simply no way Sony could have forecasted the last two and a half years of human history when this thing was being workshopped and greenlit -- and with a high price, a bad economy, and a seeming dearth of actual games, well, PlayStation's timing may be all wrong. Does PSVR2 have a real future? We discuss at length. Other news this week circulates around updated PS5 sales data and impressive numbers for 2018's God of War, Microsoft's 700th reiteration that Call of Duty will always remain on PlayStation, Electronic Arts' new three game deal with Marvel, and much more. Listener inquiries round things out, per usual, touching on topics like a lacking creativity in PlayStation's first party, why spoilers are so detrimental and wrong, and the potentially bright future of Mega Man. We also place a moratorium on a popular user-favorite term, because we need to mix things up a bit, and because we enjoy keeping you on your toes. After watching the podcast, I can’t stop thinking about someone finding an archive episode of Sacred Symbols and hearing “keep fucking that chicken” and thinking that it’s a clue to the mystery of our generation😂

Late to the party so I will just say that I love Sacred Symbols! Thanks for another episode. Actually I will add that I have very silently been annoyed with all of the slitter jokes. Curling my fingers like the greedy billionaire Montgomery Burns hearing the three of you declare this is the joke’s “last ride.” Edit: One last remark! I didn’t know Rush’s namesake was Mega Man. Much better than what I had assumed (Limbaugh.) Enjoy the week ahead gentlemen.

That shutdown by Dustin! Go on Dustin, speaking up for us Physical users

Pyo

you guys talk about amazing new ips and didn't even mention Returnal :(

Another reason for why people get physical games is that often, you can get the game cheaper physically rather than digitally. Recently for me, Target is the place where I have been getting the best discounts. With some Target Circle offers/coupons (happens from time to time), I got Hogwarts Legacy for $49, Resident Evil 4 Remake for $40, God of War for $53, Gotham Knights for $50, etc. The coupon doesn’t always work for all games but you can get some games for less before they have even released. Target currently has a buy 2 get 1 free deal that works on some preorders right now if anybody wants to try. Personally, I just buy whichever is cheaper. So far I have been more physical than digital this generation so far.

LastStandMedia

Yes, as others have said. This is a fair point. I still wouldn't want the clutter, but to each his own.

Little twinge of the old Nostalgia from the episode name this week, and enter another world indeed!

Jdummann92

Thank goodness the "Slitter" greeting was addressed.

Jacob Abraham

Love “Cryin’ Jim Ryan” and wanted to suggest “Flip-Flop Phill.” It just seems to flow better.

Physical games are cheaper to buy and go on sale , COD was $10 cheaper for me than digital

Robert Olbert

I know this is older answer, so probably will be left unnoticed. But. How come no one talks about sharing and reselling physical games? It is a big part of gamers life here where I live. We just share games between colleagues and eventually sell them. Latest Horizon did cost me like 10€. And Ghost of Tsushima plus TLOU2 less than 10€ combined and that was on release dates. Edit: Oh, so Dustin just mentioned it as I am listening further. OK. Ignore me lol
