Activision, 30 Frames, and Game Length With Defining Duke | Sacred Symbols+, Episode 236

If you've not yet noticed, we've been trying to bring our comrades from Defining Duke onto Sacred Symbols+ each and every month. After all, you said you wanted us to collaborate more, and we're glad to make that happen. Today, we gather to discuss five topics in particular: Our up-to-date feelings on the Activision/Microsoft drama, the raging 30 frames-versus-60 frames debate, various philosophies surrounding a game's length (or lack thereof), last-minute gut-checks for God of War: Ragnarok, and finally outlining our prospective games of the year. You don't want to miss any of our podcasts, but you really don't want to miss this one.

Love the crossover episodes!

These are my favorite SS+ episodes. Getting the variety of voices and opinions all in one place is good shit.

Love hearing Cog and Colin admit defeat to Elden Ring haha

"Maybe there's less rats..." - Dustin. I immediately looked at Colin. Disappointed I didn't see a bigger reaction. Glad Chris laughed though.

Y'all don't give cod enough credit. I give Activision a lot of respect for how much money and effort goes into the campaigns every year considering the fact that majority of players dont even touch it. Almost every campaign in the last 15 years has been great and I still think cod has the most satisfying first person shooting mechanics in the genre.

What’s even scarier than the 30 fps debacle is that PS4 will continue to be supported. I’ll be shocked if Spider-Man 2 is cross-gen. Remember, they announced Miles Morales & Horizon 2 as PS5 games only.

Love the show, my GOTY as of now is TMNT Shredders Revenge.

These are some of my fav episodes

10-15 hours is a common length for a lot of single player campaigns, they just got bloated over time. I'm happy to see more games aiming for that. There's always gonna be bigger RPGs and open worlds too, doesn't mean every action and FPS game needs to pad its run time.

This thumbnail is hilarious, looks like the dukes said some fighting words and are impressed with themselves haha

I'm very excited for God of War: Ragnarok and I have no doubt it'll be amazing. But I am shocked and disappointed that Gotham Knights is not only 30fps on current gen, but has crappy performance on PC. I can't abide by 30fps anymore - I had to stop playing Dishonored 2 on Xbox Game Pass because it's stuck at 30fps, with no FPS boost patch. I'm sadly not buying Gotham Knights until that changes. Poor performance of recent game releases is honestly getting on my nerves, because I was incredibly excited for Soulstice, but it runs pretty bad on PC. Even Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II needs to be set to AMD FSR (upscaling tech) for it to run well for me, which bums me out that I need to rely on that. All that aside, great discussion guys - great to see the LSM family together in one video again.
