Konami sure knows how to make someone wait. After literally years of rumors and build-up, the long-dormant Japanese publisher spilled the beans about its plans for Silent Hill, its once-popular survival horror series. It turns out three games are coming -- a new entry, a remake, and something smaller -- and, well, the choice of devs has some people puzzled. Bloober Team and Neobards Entertainment aren't exactly household names befitting a proper revival. Or perhaps that's the point? We discuss. Plus: We give you the very first details about the plotline of Quantic Dream's Star Wars: Eclipse, DualSense Edge gets both a date and price, Bungie is apparently planning a major comeback of its '90s FPS franchise Marathon, and more. We then end, as always, with listener inquiries. Could Sony begin 'Kickstarting' the development of riskier titles? Do we have a problem with cliffhanger endings? At a rumored 10-to-12 hours, is The Callisto Protocol too short? And just what is it with the Europeans, anyway? NEW MERCH! https://LastStandMedia.store Follow the hosts on Twitter! Can we stop with g4 now please? We've talked longer about its demise than it was running for 😂

Regarding production quality, I come to LSM for interesting and balanced conversations about my hobby. Its rare to get a balanced view these days. As long as you keep uploading audio so I can get on with other things whilst listening I'm here for it. When Colin left KF, they replaced him with what I would describe as overtly left wing commentators and it was just boring, because Greg Millar already leaned that way IMO - tbh though maybe he was just trying to please everyone rather than having his own view, I dunno. I liked when they brought on Gary Whitta but not enough to stick around. As a fellow Brit he talked a lot of sense and educated the colonials on the way things are 😂

Hey Colin, there aren't any Persona mechanics in Trails in the Sky 1st or 2nd chapter. No social elements or anything of that nature either. I'm guessing the same will ring true for the third game in the trilogy, but I haven't gotten there yet. Just letting you know since you weren't digging Cold Steel. Also, I'm at the end of SC, and these two games fuck. Very good shit. Cheers

I always interpreted 'mildly indisposed' as 'taking an emotional dump in the toilet'.

Can we just pause for a moment and recognize the exquisitely meme-worthy image frame of Colin at 7:49? I mean this work of art is astounding.. when he eloquently mentions putting the Pope unabashedly on a car as a decal and then puffs at his vape, this is a worthy rival to Leonardo DiCaprio's infamous sneer from Django.. Yes. I'll take prints of this and I will proudly put them on sweaters and flaunt them at any Ugly Christmas Sweater parties that I attend this holiday season. More please.

Colin, after the last live show you said you would come to the UK in 2023. We want you inside us.

Highly enjoyable episode, thanks 👍 About the Bloober Team and Silent Hill discussion. I'm baffled the studio got the license to create a remake, of one of the greatest horror in video games. BT is a fake it till you make it studio. They've been stealing ideas and assets left and right, while what was their work (story, design) is usually of poor quality. Nothing explains it better than this video, which I HIGHLY recommend watching before giving Bloober any support https://youtu.be/I_uD7gxIF2s Oh, and last but not least: don't forget that it was Bloober who (tried or completed to) patented a game design mechanic they did not invent! Typical money hungry game developer from my country.

As the years have passed, my curiosity about what could have been lessens, because I know my instincts were right.

LastStandMedia

I just question their level of quality. How can Konami not get a real AAA team to work on this project?

gothichellokitty

Im with Colin on Kamiya. Dude is a fucken ass hole and Platinum has been flirting with getting purchased but we already know Microsoft is notorious for not dealing with people like him and Sony has no need for them. On the game length conversation it just depends on the game. I just beat Scorn and I totally loved it because I knew what it was going in and it's only about 5 hours so for me it was one of my favorite games of the year. For third person cinematic games I really do not like spending more then 15ish hours because I simply don't enjoy the gameplay enough to play them 25 to 30 hours. Plague Tale is great but this sequel is pushing it for me in length at about 17 hours. I have Gamepass so for me the time doesn't really matter other then will I enjoy seeing it through to the end. I'll still purchase games if I'm really interested but if I'm unsure on the game then Gamepass has more then enough for me until it's on sale. My RPGs need to be 30 hours minimum though. I think subscriptions are great for the gamer that can only get one major game every so often because then you're loaded with tons of great stuff in between those purchases. I do think many games are longer then they need to be though.

As I'm still under NDA (5 years), what I can tell you is that: boy oh boy, can the Polish business man sell cats in bags.

Here's my take on the High School fantasy situation. We go to school during the formative years of our lives. As young, social creatures we are shaped by our school experience and learn how to interact with other people through competition, love and friendship. Playing an RPG set in a school gives us the separation and the fantasy to be who we want to be, not make the awkward mistakes we have all made in real life and to do it over again with the gained wisdom and confidence that Colin had mentioned. It's not that we wish to be at school again, it's that we wish to do it better than the last time. Time traveling into the past to relive our school years with our current knowledge is something we've seen a lot in movies for good reason!

I would so much rather play a good 10 hour game twice then spend 30 50 or 60 hours on any single game.
