The Last of Us: Part I is one thing, but 'remaking' Horizon? Five years and change after it came out? Give us a break. Tantalizing rumors (seemingly confirmed by reliable sources) indicate Sony is indeed endeavoring to deliver a Horizon: Zero Dawn remake of some sort, a game that first came to PS4 in 2017 and PC in 2020. What level or kind of remake? It's unclear. But something akin to Naughty Dog's aforementioned PS5 foray is likely. Naturally, we discuss, while also going into the rest of the leaked Sony document that shows off a bunch of upcoming PlayStation products we know little or nothing about, with codenames like Ocean, Bates, Heartbreak, Camden, Carbon, and Redstar. Other news includes a bunch of Herman Hulst media hits, word on PSVR2's production targets, a ton of information about upcoming CD Projekt games, and much more, and as always, we end things with listener inquiries. Which titles, if any, have us holding our controllers in an unusual fashion? Is there such a thing as a game with too many endings? How can Activision better listen to its players following the recent Call of Duty beta? Did you know that there's such a thing as a littering fetish? Now you do. We hope you're happy.

How is colin complaining about horizon remaster when every thing that got complained about this episode is exchangeable with Last of us part 1? He can try to defend it but he already argued against himself this episode.

Interested to see assuming that Wild Hearts is a success if we'll see another resurgence of Monster Hunter competitors from Japanese developers like we saw during the PSP/Vita and 3DS era. I think the only one that has stuck around is God Eater. Would like to suggest a SS+ episode on Monster Hunter and its competitors inability to compete on the same level as Capcom and if it's even feasible to do so. I think one of the first AI made games we'll see is a text based game. AI can already generate text based on keywords, the next step would be for the AI to generate different writing styles, the plot, player choices and consequences all based on keywords or short prompts.

Loved the conversation about AI. It reminds me of how musical artists use samples and interpolations. While samples are usually easier to spot and once heavily frowned upon, interpolations became the next step of having your interpretation, while making your own distinctly new piece of work. We are gonna be in for a ride when the AI can understand both sample and interpolation, and easily bounce between the two.

Thank you Colin for pronouncing my name appropriately at the start. I'm genuinely surprised lmao.

We all operate as if there are objective elements to the quality of art, particularly in the gaming and film spaces. Too few acknowledge it, many bitch about it, and many can't set aside how something makes them feel to objectively analyze it well. Yet, they project that unto other people. It's a symptom of where our culture is at, I guess.

I think Colin is confusing Cincinnati with Cleveland with his spending a month in one day joke. Cincinnati is doing well outside of the MLB. Cleveland is Detroit's dumpster fire sister city whose river is known to spontaneously combust.

It's why devs need to make a no-AI pledge for a future game, and allow the two types of creations to compete. =)

I’m not sure I think Sony doing The Last of Us Part 1 and then the supposed Horizon remake is the same thing. Regardless of the remaster, TLOU was a ps3 game. The design was a whole generation behind Horizon. Also there could be a whole argument about the need to clean up a narrative driven stealth game versus an open world action game. The genre of the latter seems to hold up way better over time. I know TLOU P1 is selling well, but I would be shocked if Sony was able to get the same results from remaking Horizon.

I think, perhaps, we will look at AI art as a medium rather than "is it art?". It's similar to how a photo can make a more accurate representation than a painting. AI cannot create without command, the same way a camera will not take photos until it is told to do so. The vernacular may look something like "I prompted the AI to make this" as opposed to"I made this". Brings to question whether an AI could ever be creative; could an AI get bored? Interesting way to end the episode

If Sony is selling these so called cash grabs, but people are eating them up, is there really anything wrong with them doing it? This is a substitute for a Fortnite, and a Call Of Duty. That said, I don’t see people buying this like they have Naughty Dog’s titles.
