Letting Some Steam Out | Sacred Symbols+, Episode 224

You probably already know that I (Colin) employ a certain analogy when it comes to PlayStation's current situation: A boiling pot with a lid securely on top. You know something is in there -- the metal is hot to the touch, it's rattling, and maybe you've even caught an aromatic tease or two -- but you still don't know what's within. Well, today's State of Play let some of the steam out of that pot. But enough of the vague illustrations. For your listening and viewing pleasure, Dustin and I got together to talk off-the-cuff about the 12 featured products from State of Play -- 10 games and two extras -- including a couple of titles from second party, some love for PSVR2, promising fare from the east, and of course Sony's fall tentpole in God of War: Ragnarok. Gather 'round, friends. We finally have some news to discuss, and we're quite eager to do so.

Also this show was mid af. It showed mostly multiplats or things we already seen before.

I had no idea what Pacific Drive was and it looked to weird. But the description you read makes it sound way more interesting.

This was a pretty great showcase imo, at least considering the precedent haha - only topped in recent memory by the Spiderman 2 & Wolverine showcase from a while back. Alot of these outta-nowhere Japanese action games looked really fun, and I'm usually not into them at all.

Colin, you said you were interested in the Switch Front Mission games. However, I think Digital Foundry says that the team making the ports of the Front Mission games is awful. Is this true?

Hey guys! Great episode, I was very excited! God of War and Stellar Sword looked amazing!

Totally agree with you Colin on Ragnarok. It looks good, most would be lying to say it looks bad. But I got a lot of Marvel energy from it. Not with the dialogue, but the environments and big bosses shown. I’m just.. not hyped for it. Not my cup of tea I suppose.

Curb your excitement for the Front Mission remakes: It's being published by Forever Entertainment, who have brought us the far-from-great remakes of Panzer Dragoon and House of the Dead.

C? C?! Holly molly. Nothing surprising, coming unnoticed? What about Rise of the Ronin from Team Ninja or Bandai Namco's waifu-mecha game SynDuality. And btw. after soo many years we are getting the feudal Japan Yakuza games. Are you kidding me? ┻━┻ ︵ヽ(`Д´)ノ︵ ┻━┻

I'm really enjoying the evolution of the simmering pot metaphor.
