You probably already know that I (Colin) employ a certain analogy when it comes to PlayStation's current situation: A boiling pot with a lid securely on top. You know something is in there -- the metal is hot to the touch, it's rattling, and maybe you've even caught an aromatic tease or two -- but you still don't know what's within. Well, today's State of Play let some of the steam out of that pot. But enough of the vague illustrations. For your listening and viewing pleasure, Dustin and I got together to talk off-the-cuff about the 12 featured products from State of Play -- 10 games and two extras -- including a couple of titles from second party, some love for PSVR2, promising fare from the east, and of course Sony's fall tentpole in God of War: Ragnarok. Gather 'round, friends. We finally have some news to discuss, and we're quite eager to do so.

I finished it here at work, and while I do agree that Pacific Drive was appealing in some ways, I didn’t know enough about it from the event to know what it was going to be. Hearing you talk about it after doing more research on the information they provided does give it a bit more depth now. I’ll keep an eye out for more gameplay in the future.

My favorite announcement that came out of yesterday wasn't even Playstation state of play related. It was the reveal of Octopath 2 which will come out early next year for switch/ps/pc. Really looking forward to going back into that world.

Did you guys ever talk about Death's Door? I swear I remembered you guys did but cant find it.

superbadisfunny .

Tekken 8 trailer alone gives this state of play a b+. Everything else just puts the lotion on the skin.

Some nice surprises in there and was different from what I expected. I guess we’ll a PS Studios Showcase at some point. I’m just dying to see what they’ve been up to, I like to get hyped up.

Big Boss Games

For a state of play, this really was awesome!

Interesting, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and Rise of Ronin, both developed by Team Ninja(with Koei Tecmo involved) but only one of those games is console exclusive. Is Xbox really shifting away from console exclusivity(I'm sure they had to money to make it so) to focus on day one GamePass or could Koei Tecmo have only agreed to day one GamePass if the game was multiplatform?

I’m not a fan of the combat in the regular Yakuza series so I’m not sure about Ishin but it looks cool. Col, I think you’d dig Like A Dragon (the rpg), it reminds me a lot of South Park: The Stick of Truth by how ridiculous it is. I don’t know anything about Yakuza but so far playing LAD seems like a good starting point as well.

Pacific Drive is the only one that stood out to me (apart from GoW). Excited to see what this new team can bring!

Colin loving the exclusive PS content for Hogwarts and a few mins later lamenting Square Enix and Nintendo exclusives is the height of irony 😂

LastStandMedia

When did I say loved that PlayStation had exclusive content for Hogwarts? That never happened.

Greg Dawson

Apologies Colin, it was Dustin! "Sometimes these exclusive quests end up being nothing, let's hope this one is more substantial". Why?

easelgames

? I think you missed the sarcasm there. He's poking fun at how pointless the exclusive quests are and basically asking that question while rolling his eyes. He's not actually hoping it's better, just saying that it's always pointless and this is yet another case of "oh well I guess we'll see"
