Pray They Don't Alter It Any Further | Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast Episode 217

For the first time in the history of the gaming industry, a major piece of hardware is getting a price increase across virtually the entire world. PlayStation 5, launched in 2020 at $500 or your local equivalent, will still cost that much (with a disc drive) here in the States. But virtually everywhere else in the world -- from the UK and Europe to Australia, Japan, and beyond -- PS5's price is about to go up modestly, but noticeably. Sony no doubt isn't taking this PR catastrophe lightly -- you have to imagine there's a need here -- and, indeed, this highly-controversial will help them make an additional half-a-billion bucks this year alone. But with market conditions as they are, inflation running rampant, and production as trying as ever, the only question is whether any of their competitors follow-suit, and whether Sony itself is done upping the ante. Other news includes the reveal of PlayStation's long-awaited Elite-style controller called DualSense Edge, confirmation that PSVR2 will launch in early 2023, release dates for Dead Island 2, Sonic Frontiers, and more. and so on. Then, we wrap things up (as we always do) with listener inquiries. What's with some outlets slamming Saints Row, then accepting money to promote it anyway? Is it becoming increasingly difficult to avoid the industry's inherent negativity? Will Sony ever begin caring about their PlayStation Mobile initiative? Should one listener's public bathroom encounter have left him as scared as it has? Check out our merch! LastStandMedia.store Follow the hosts on Twitter! I love this thumbnail so much.

Gerard Tremblay

elden ring is surely a top seller recently due to the release of the co op mod, I have a couple friends who picked it up for the first time due to that

Guybrush Threepwood

Germanos

Yeah, will skip this one. See you next week.

Richard Court

in fairness.. today 500usd is 650cad .. so i guess we've been getting a deal and now being brought inline

Deathloop also has a fantastic trophy list, genuinely fun to work through.

Aksel M. Bjerke

I just keep going back to the thumbnail. I dont know whats better; smiling lil' Luke Dustin or suave Solo Colin. And Princess Chris! Its just so silly and glorious 😂 Oh yea, good episode too.

Kaz Redclaw

How about the Patreon comments, can they still be a journal?

Zack Fair

What is Dustin talking about, Jack Move looks fricking awesome. Sort your boy out Colin 😂

Michael Candelaria

Holy shit, when Colin brought up The Last of Us Part 2 being like Schindler's List, it reminded me that Jeff Cannata said the exact same thing in his review of the game and got attacked on line by idiots saying "how dare you compare a video game to the Holocaust......even though he didn't. He said the experience of playing TLOU2 was like watching Schindler's List.

"Enjoy your back buttons, ya loser. .... That was a little harsh! I'm sorry!" hahahaha. In all seriousness though, Dustin, I couldn't agree more with what Colin is saying. Get that taken care of as soon as possible. You fear the 6 weeks of having a cast on or whatever - you're eventually going to need to endure it regardless of anything, but it'll be worse later. Take care of yourself man :) Who knows, maybe the next "Stand Down" calibre trademark will come from that cast.

Cun

Also I'm gonna need to hear more of Colin yelling at his dogs lmao that was absurd

Zack Fair

I don't think it's just the inflation rates in Europe an UK Colin, I have to disagree with you that the US is PlayStations biggest market. PS4 sales were higher in Europe than all of North America last generation and that's probably why also they aint putting up PS5 prices as the market share is probably tighter between Xbox and PlayStation in North America than it is in Europe

Zack Fair

So it is, but I was comparing continents Colin, as I stated North America to which is a few countries
