For the first time in the history of the gaming industry, a major piece of hardware is getting a price increase across virtually the entire world. PlayStation 5, launched in 2020 at $500 or your local equivalent, will still cost that much (with a disc drive) here in the States. But virtually everywhere else in the world -- from the UK and Europe to Australia, Japan, and beyond -- PS5's price is about to go up modestly, but noticeably. Sony no doubt isn't taking this PR catastrophe lightly -- you have to imagine there's a need here -- and, indeed, this highly-controversial will help them make an additional half-a-billion bucks this year alone. But with market conditions as they are, inflation running rampant, and production as trying as ever, the only question is whether any of their competitors follow-suit, and whether Sony itself is done upping the ante. Other news includes the reveal of PlayStation's long-awaited Elite-style controller called DualSense Edge, confirmation that PSVR2 will launch in early 2023, release dates for Dead Island 2, Sonic Frontiers, and more. and so on. Then, we wrap things up (as we always do) with listener inquiries. What's with some outlets slamming Saints Row, then accepting money to promote it anyway? Is it becoming increasingly difficult to avoid the industry's inherent negativity? Will Sony ever begin caring about their PlayStation Mobile initiative? Should one listener's public bathroom encounter have left him as scared as it has?

Because of the price increase in my market I’m just going to wait until a slim or a pro, if I’m going to pay more I may as well wait and shell out for less obsolete technology. The fact that I can play Ragnarok on PS4 is also an influencer, the only painful one will be waiting to play Spider-Man 2 if the gap between release and a hardware refresh is large.

Colin, if you truly plan on taking the plunge into Yakuza, I highly recommend starting with Kiwami instead of Yakuza 0. You would be starting with a prequel that came out after many entries and I think its character moments are better appreciated having playing at least Kiwami and Kiwami 2. Do what you want of course, just a suggestion.

Nierly Crazy

The problem is, the Kiwami games also retrofit stuff from 0 as well. Idk, I started with 0 and loved the series throughout anyway (Xbox player).

Does Horizon being a pack in with the PS5 consoles count towards sales of the game?

James Pies

This is true, guess you can't really go wrong either way. I started with 0 too but I wish I hadn't given the post credits scene at the end. I just feel watching THAT character's transformation hits harder not knowing his origin off that bat (get it, bat? Tehee). Still loving the series. Playing 6 right now then hitting Judgement spin offs before Like a Dragon.

I'd like to add halal food to the "only good in NYC" list. And Colin, not all mole' has chocolate!

I was out of town visiting family back in my home town over the weekend so I'm just now getting to the episode and all I'm going to say is that thumbnail is fucking S tier. Awesome stuff lol.

I would describe the art style of Atomic Heart as Soviet Realism or Soviet Retro Futurism. I’m also seeing a lot of Dishonored 2 influences in the enemies design and overall gameplay.

Hey guys. Colin - one thing that might stop you from playing Destiny 2 is that you can't platinum it solo. You can't start certain activities required for 100%, unless you've got a team of 3-6, and there's no matchmaking in these modes. I was like 2 trophies away from the plat, @ probably around 150h, when I found this out. I tried inviting randoms from friends list and forums, but with no luck, and I dropped the game then and there. Update : I just looked up the trophy list and it turns out that since Bungie cut the old content loose, the raid trophy (which required 6 players) has been changed, and now you only need to do nightfall strikes which require a team of 3, so with the help of Christopher and 1 other mate you might be able to do it. If you ever decide to put yourself through the grind, that is.

Colin mole is from the seed cocoa, yes they make chocolate out of it, it’s basically the seed not the chocolate that your thinking of

Genuine question, when has Playstation been the 'thought' leader? I can only think of the PS1's emphasis on 3D graphics and the use of CDs and the PSP having console-quality graphics. I think they're making that Days Gone movie because they know they're not going to do anything with the IP for the foreseeable future and it's probably one of their easiest to make into a movie. Milk that IP now for all it's worth before it becomes irrelevant as the years go on.

Michael Candelaria

Holy shit, when Colin brought up The Last of Us Part 2 being like Schindler's List, it reminded me that Jeff Cannata said the exact same thing in his review of the game and got attacked on line by idiots saying "how dare you compare a video game to the Holocaust......even though he didn't. He said the experience of playing TLOU2 was like watching Schindler's List.

Aladin_Run

After watching the Forspoken gameplay, I can confidently say that this is my most anticipated game. I was craving a game with magical combat like this.

LastStandMedia

I think it's potentially foolish to think there's any money to be made with Days Gone anything, if you can't even make a sequel.

You guys are nuts man. If not for Sony we would have been playing on cartridges in to the 21st century and we would just now be discovering the DVD. Sony has plenty of frustrating tendencies but failure to innovate is not one of them. They are so innovative they no longer get credit for it. It’s now expected. The most obvious way I see Sony playing catch-up is that, for a decade, or the entirety of the industry has been perfecting ways to separate us from every cent they can, while delivering less and less for it. Sony’s quality has always been their value proposition. Now people dunk on them for trying to extract revenue that way.
