Embracer Group has been making bite size acquisitions for years as they slowly built up an army of game developers. Within the last couple of months, they have made splashes that have now caught the attention of the gaming masses. This ranges from their investment in the KOTOR remake to purchasing Square Enix's western division all the way to their recent acquisition of the IP rights for both Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit. Round this out with the unexpected purchase of Limited Run Games and their "Carbon Engine" and the pieces of the puzzle begin to fit together. With a plethora of teams and tantalizing IP, the opportunities seem endless for this gaming giant.

Acquisitions are great but you better deliver some good games after putting out all that money. Saints Row was a let down big time. I am not sure if I got old and its just not as good as I remember or its actually bad. They have great IP that I want to play and now after some big misses I am nervous they don't have the talent to deliver.

I miss Battle for Middle Earth 2 so much.

In regard to why Amazon or someone else didn't pick up The Lord of the Rings, I've heard that the copyright might be expiring in 20 years or sooner which means that the purchase will soon have very little resale value. Tolkien's work will eventually enter the public domain.
