Is PlayStation missing an element of 'fun' that used to be present in its ecosystem? One listener wrote in with such a thought, revolving his argument around one key figure from yore: Kevin Butler. The long-lost fictional Sony executive represented a different time for PlayStation. The question is, do we want to go back? News items this week include a peculiar missive from Sony in Brazil about Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard, an analysis of Sony's first quarter fiscal report, Tencent's pursuit of Ubisoft, and more. Other listener inquiries include ones on the potential of an $80 game, the value-versus-length argument, subscriptions acting as modes of curation, and Dustin's peculiar pronunciation of a northwestern American state. If only we could have done more to protect him.

I wish we lived in a world where people just got paid for what they deserve. these people that get paid billions and millions like how is this a just world when certain people get paid like 1000x amount compared to other people as if they are worth that amount more then people that work under them. if the employees stop working for them what ever they are trying to sell won’t be sold to the large scale it is sold at which in turn will make their business crumble because those people getting paid a ridiculous amount can’t take the position of 2 of their employees not even probably 1 if they know exactly what they are doing. This also gets me mad when people praise certain game creators like Hideo Kojima, Todd Howard, Neil Druckmann As if they made the game by themselves. Yes they are definitely a major part of the creation of the game but without all those talented people they hired I highly doubt they could make a game on par with their recently made games considering that some developers are just talented at making water look good in games. I remember hearing this from guy named Cesar ( he was part Ubisoft back in the day I think) on rantons podcast. Anyway apologies about the rant. Great episode sacred simple men I hope for good fortune during your week.

ELDEN RING is actually how it's presented on the cover.

Good luck with Final Fantasy X Colin. It's the first FF I ever played, and I played it 5 times since. So It's always sad to hear it's your least favorite FF. Just remember: The laughing scene is supposed to sound fake!

Avery Illies

I listened to the episode, and skimmed back through, but I couldn't find the portion where Kyler Murray was talked about. Any fan know what topic this was mentioned in?

Luke Silletta

All this FF8 slander. Aside from the weird level scaling 8 was a great game. Also I would argue the music in 8 is the best of the series.

Josh Lucas

Lmaooo Dustin’s reaction to FF8 made me laugh out loud cause it’s the exact same way I felt when I tried to play it a year or two ago. I only played it for 20 minutes or so and it was just reading encyclopedias about the systems of the game and I turned it off.

I really loved the crossover Duke and SS pod if you ever did an off topic show that would be awesome to bring on folks from the other shows. Maybe rotating if people didn't have the time. Maybe even the true king of LSM Dagan? Understandable if you all are too busy though appreciate all that you do!

Telling Robin Williams “Nanu-Nanu” , and to get his shit together had me dying. Needed that laugh. Thank you! Wonder how many of these youngsters got that reference.

Greg Hommel

I personally am finding it ironic that nobody has ever seen the “Accolades” feature on PlayStation 5. If any of you had ever finished even one match in BF 2042 you would have seen the option pop up. I just can’t shut up about further proof that Sacred Symbols’ most shit on game is one that has never booted up on any of your machines. I just find that dishonest, which it not a way I would characterize you guys.

Regarding the piece you wrote about the PSN discoverability problem, why not release it as an article? I assume most Patrons would be happy to read it. Maybe even a monthly or quarterly 'newsletter' about anything gaming related. I wonder if PS would create a virtual influencer as their new KB. Seems to be the rage in Chinese and Japanese companies.
