An ex-studio head indicates Sony is indeed interested in purchasing Square Enix, Rockstar has some players nervous about Grand Theft Auto VI's apparently 'woke' transformation, PS5's timed-exclusive KOTOR remake has been binned, EA is apparently working on a Black Panther game, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! Is PlayStation losing its identity under Jim Ryan's stewardship? Could edutainment games ever make a comeback? Should developers nurture 'farm systems' of lesser devs? Are Colin's handwritten notes more sinister than you think?

Hey Colin, I also always try to go as blind as possible to a game and Stray is the first time it didn't work out quite well. I was expecting it to be more linear, instead I've got a city where I keep getting lost all the time and a bunch of stuff that can be collected and many characters that I need to talk to... Overall it's much more complicated than I anticipated.

It’s really not as complicated as it seems once u make your way into the areas. Just some light puzzle solving that I found very appealing and thought added to world. It’s really worth the pay off as game gets very interesting farther u get into it and was wonderful experience. Its super short as well so not much of a time sink

Aladin_Run

I have a very shitty sense of direction, that's the main problem. But I'm really invested in the story, it's getting really interesting. Edit: I forgot I can use the PS5 built-in guide. That changes things.

LastStandMedia

Yeah, I don't find it particularly fun. Very cute idea, but not what I would have wanted. I'm glad people love it, though.

About consumer tech going up in price.... The first thing that came to mind are the Sonos speakers. Particularly the Sonos arc I believe.

Chris is soooooooooooooo right about the clickbait spoiler nature of things these days and for quite a while really. It's old, but the most obvious thing that always comes is The Phantom Menace when (spoilers lol) they showed right in the trailer the Darth Maul double lightsaber reveal. I still feel like that would've blown people's fucking MINDS if that just happened during the fight, especially with 'Duel of the Fates' playing in the background? The theater would've erupted!!! Fun fact, I'm old-adjacent so I camped out for tickets for this movie, great experience. 😁

Why did the picture change?

I bought some Klipcsh bookshelf speakers maybe four years ago at $250 they are now $350. I used the way back machine to verify this a couple months ago.

sorry.. late to the party.. so, due to the DMCA thing, the video version was taken down?

I was excited for a typing game to come out recently, Nanotale: Typing Chronicles. An isometric action game where you type a word that's over an enemy to attack. I didn't pick it up since it got just ok reviews.

Typing of the Dead: Overkill - released 2013. Great great great game and super funny.. raunchy as fuck and hilarious. $20 on Steam. Worth a buy. Chris should try it for sure. Colin if you have a PC that can play it, worth every penny.

Did Chris just announce God of War for Xbox? He was telling a story about a Microsoft Press Conference and said Kratos was there. 😂😂

Here’s what I know of Black Panther based on the 2 graphic novels I’ve read. He’s the leader of an isolationist nation called Wakanda, a technologically advanced and spiritual African nation that owes its existence to a metal called vibranium. Vibranium is the reason why the nation hides itself from the outside world. The biggest threats to the nation are outsiders who want the vibranium and the insiders who want to change Wakanda. The Black Panther is the leader of Wakanda. It’s a title that’s inherited by competing with the leaders of other tribes in Wakanda. If they pass the trials, they consume a herb that gives them heightened strength and reflexes, not Spider-Man level stats but still powerful. His suit is made from vibranium and he’s got some high tech equipment. If I were to pitch a BP game, I would focus on the political and nation building aspects. Based on the leaks, we play as a character who wants to take over Wakanda after the death of the BP. So imagine if we get to customise our character based on the tribes of Wakanda. Each tribe has a different play style(stealth, combat, tech, etc..), different visual customisation(tattoos, accessories, etc…), etc.. How you become the BP and lead Wakanda is based on your interactions with the people and political players of the nation. Imagine if the Nemesis system could be used for this. What are the consequences of siding one tribe over the other? What are the consequences of keeping Wakanda hidden or open to the outside world? What kind of missions and story beats come with those decisions? What kind of Wakanda will you build?

I'm a huge KOTOR fan and it sucks that remake is put on hold. But I want to speculate a little bit. Aspyr is a part of Embracer group, these guys are buying Eidos Montreal soon. Eidos Montreal did quite good reboot of Deus Ex - Human Revolution and Mankind Divided. Guardians of the Galaxy was written exceptionally well, so I think these guys are great fit to do this remake.

On the topic of edutainment, does anyone else remember the “Junp Start” games? I remember my parents getting me the new one every year. My favorite was Haunted Mansion (which I think was 4th grade). It’s still around, but you okay them as either a mobile app or desktop pc app.

Greg Dawson

You were talking about spoilers I think and Chris went on to say thats why he loves E3. Then gave a monologue of watching a Microsoft Press Conference where Kratos turns up. 😂
