It's good to keep your expectations low. That way, surprises could be around every corner. With the PlayStation ecosystem so vacant in recent months, it's clear that Sony and its many partners have a lot to say. It's just that we didn't think a State of Play presentation that Sony seemed to actively and repeatedly lower expectations for would be the venue. Well, consider us surprised, indeed! During a tight 30 minute showcase, we got to see 15 different games (including three from first party), spanning PS4, PS5, and PSVR2. Horizon: Call of the Mountain looks great, and -- believe it or not -- 2018's Spider-Man is PC-bound, where it looks to add to its and Miles Morales' stunning 33 million copies sold. Resident Evil 4 Remake is real (and it's glorious), Stray finally has a release date (and will be a 'free' title for PS+ Premium and Deluxe), Callisto Protocol wears its Dead Space inspiration on its sleeve (and preempts Dead Space Remake on the calendar), and Final Fantasy XVI -- due out in Summer 2023! -- looks incredible. We have a lot to gush about. There's other news this week, too, which makes this episode officially jam-packed. Dragon Age's return draws near, Killzone may be en route to PSVR2, Sonic Frontiers looks questionable, and more. Plus: Listener inquiries! Are we being too hard on Forspoken? Why, exactly, does Colin hate multiplayer gaming? Can print strategy guides ever experience a resurgence? Has Dustin underestimated the selling power of the Slitterhead Shuffle?

Seeing the character roam around in SF6 brought back memories of Mortal Kombat: Deception's campaign where you could walk around the world and interact with the main characters. Also Chris, I empathise with you. I used to have nightmares of being in school naked, because I somehow forgot to wear clothes. Speaking of magazines I'm currently fulfilling a childhood dream of reading a monthly gaming magazine(Edge, it's the only one my bookstore has), never had the money to do it back then.

A friend of mine was moving to Quebec a few years ago and sold off most of his PS2 collection. I bought KUON from him for $10. It was a smart move on my part.

In regards to the multiplayer topic, I swear Colin said he used to play Rainbow Six online. I feel you though, as I get older with kids, it’s so hard to sync up with other people to play multiplayer that I’ve really embraced being more into single-player.

Sam Lee

Why not? Gives primarily single player gamers more to do in the game and maybe give the team at Capcom a chance to do some fun world building and interactions with the characters. I get that most people don't play fighting games for the story but where's the harm in trying? At worst you get a forgettable campaign with some memes, at best, you get a good story with some memes.

Craig Mcguire

Calisto, RE4 and Dead Space Remake. We eating good.

Anyone have any good comparison videos for Pal vs NTSC? I just watched a couple and was expecting more of a difference. Watched one for Crash and MGS and it didn't really seem bad. Chris and Dustin made it seem like the difference was so huge.

Man you guys are way off on Dragon Age. The new game is a direct continuation of the story setup in Inquisition. The main team released Inquisition then went into the disaster that was Anthem while a second new team made Andromeda. We all know how that went. The main team then returned to Dragon Age as was the plan all along. It’s ok if you guys don’t like a game series but millions of other people do. As long as they take the time and do it right it will be a hit.

I generally agree with you all, the internet is absolutely fucking people up. But I also wager mass shootings were still a problem that just couldn't be reported on a large scale or just... systemic racism covering it up. Im just thinking of all the minorities We fucking slaughtered or enslaved. That capacity for evil hasn't changed much. It's often those same ideologies -that same evil- just in the modern age.

LastStandMedia

It's a multi-faceted, multi-generational, fucked up issue, there's no doubt about it. I still think technology is at the center.

Brannon H

In what specifically, frame rate, and colors? I can definitely see a difference but I'm not quite on the same level.

Stonehorn

I mean, Inquisition wasn't very good, though. That's the problem. The series hasn't been good since Origins.

Stonehorn

No, it just didn't happen with any frequency before columbine. You have no idea how shocking a mass shooting in a high school was in May of 1999. I was in grade 12. Schools everywhere sent kids home to hug their parents, it was in the news for months, years with the investigations, compared to weeks now.

Jeremy Seal

Future Press makes bad ass guides. I used their guides on Bloodborne, and I just pre-ordered the Elden Ring guides.
