The Kingdom Stirs | Sacred Symbols: A PlayStation Podcast Episode 198

The recent 20th anniversary celebration for Kingdom Hearts came with a major surprise: The announcement of Kingdom Hearts IV. While leaked in unintentional (and obviously completely accurate) GeForce documents last year, the new Square Enix-Disney collaboration is the talk of the industry, and obviously, we dedicate plenty of time to it. We also touch on the week's other news, including Ghost of Tsushima's film project procuring its writer, CD Projekt taking the Witcher III PS5 port from Saber Interactive due to their Russian ties, PlayStation's fresh investment into Epic, Bungie's dedication to work-from-home, and more. Then: Listener inquiries! What's the most-aesthetically pleasing PlayStation console? Why hasn't Star Trek made the jump to AAA games? Are we reaching a breaking point when comparing physical and digital game prices? How young can we indoctrinate children to ensure they become Sacred Symbols superfans? Haven't heard you talk about this because it isn't really newsworthy, but I just wanted to say WWE 2K22 is awesome and I think deserves praise after the dumpster fire of 2K20. I think it's the best wrestling game we've gotten in over a decade.

Good episode boys, please know that any critiques come out of love. Pound for pound no other outlets have anywhere near Sacreds candor.

I think the numbers for Oddworld wouldn't be no where near 4 million if it wasn't on PS plus, I've downloaded it when it came on the service and I've not touched it yet. Nor would I have most likely bought it if it wasn't on there, just to the sheer amount of games to play

If Chris is wondering what the difference is between Oddworld: Soulstorm being on PS Plus and Oddworld: New & Tasty being on Gamepass is Soulstorm was free upon release and New & Tasty came out around the time the ps4 launched so it has had its sales by this point

The thing hanging from his house is part of the soffit. If it’s made of wood keep it wood. They have a cheaper alternative that’s plastic/metal and has holes in them that go around the house, do not replace it with that. Those things are bullshit. They aren’t secured enough because of the size of them. The only reason my house got so fucked up during hurricane Michael Is because they all got blown out and water came in.

Getting over 70K to talk about Kingdom Hearts is what sticks with me after this one. 😅

Hearing yall talk about star trek made me want to ask: have yall seen the new Dune? Would love to hear your thoughts. I would LOVE a Dune game.

I find it interesting that you see "workers getting theirs" as a left wing ideal. My take is these current economic conditions are exactly what conservatives believe should happen. My understanding of the left is they belive the government should raise the minimum wage, and the right says that if the economy expands workers will demand more or find a better job and wages will raise. My belief anyway is 1. create as much value as possible 2. get played as much as possible for that value. 3. If the economy is strong you can leverage your value better. People tell me I am conservative but to be fair I don't know if I really am, and I could be a lowkey liberal.

I still buy a lot of Physical games, but also a reasonable number of digital games. If it's a game that I'm going to play all the way through then never go back to, Physical. If it's one I'm going to go back to over and over or play in parallel with other games, Digital. Once I play through a game and I'm not going to play it again, I'll give it away or sell it. I hate swapping games while playing them, so this is the way I use to minimize how much I switch games. Once a game goes in the system, it stays there until I finish it, or decide I'm not going to finish it for a few years, and I deposit it in the deep backlog. When I go on trips, I'll take at most 1 extra game for each system I bring, in case I finish my main game for that system. I still have my PS4 hooked up though, it's in a different room than the PS5, and dedicated to VR games only. This is despite having the PS5 adapter, there's just not enough space in the room with the PS5 to use it.
