Halo Infinite was one of Xbox's smash hit releases in holiday 2021. It was showered by both critics and fans alike with praise as the framework for the future of Halo. Sadly, it has remained just that as we reached March of 2022 which is four months after the game's multiplayer released. Things are quite stagnant as of this moment in time and key features like co-op campaign and possibly forge look to be delayed. With such a messy situation, we had to phone in LSM Halo expert Chris Ray Gun to speak on the subject and see if things are just as bad as they seem.

Literally almost every live service game was bad the first year…. Halo will be fine when best ever Forge drops and add a battle Royale mode also some nice season passes likely season 3……This game is 4 months old the narratives are so tiresome 2 weeks of major DD talks of this and now a DDU episode lol…..I hope you guys bring that month long energy when it gets back up to 200K on steam in the next 12 months my guess the holidays. This is how live service game works Tie Guy was all over this that’s literally his wheel house. Please don’t turn into another Xbox doom and gloom……yikes just thinking about the Initiative talk tomorrow

Agree, myself and the crew that played at launch and through January are just waiting on new content to jump back in. Not one of us is pissed off but just looking forward to what's coming next.

Yea not gonna lie haven’t played since January but will definitely be back and if Forge is as insane as they say watch out…..people forget Apex had one map destiny was terrible. The should of delay talk is insane to me. I played from Nov 15th until January almost every day the alternative was not playing at all don’t get it

I don't quite understand your guys' conversation on the social playlists. Am I not supposed to play to the best of my ability in social modes? I always play FPS games with the aim of securing my team the win, and I will absolutely stomp less skilled players if I'm matched against them. I avoid Ranked playlists in any game because I absolutely despise the meta game of maintaining and grinding for a meaningless rank (and the insane toxicity that brings). (Also BR starts, no radar, smaller weapon pool, etc. in Halo is not fun for me personally.) Sure get rid of skill-based matching in social, but that isn't going to change the behavior of most players who always seek to play for the win.

What Chris is saying is that Halo has the potenial to be a GaaP, Game as a Platform, not GaaS. Which games like Minecraft and Roblox are. This is right up Microsoft's alley and should be done. There is a market void for this type of game, most GaaP is made for kids, other than Skyrim.

What’s killed this game for me is exactly what you guys were saying.. the variety. I planned to have it as a game I jump into all the time and was gonna work my way to onyx but once I hit diamond I got tired of playing oddball 3 times in a row on the same map which was happening all too often and then when I decided well.. I’ll go have some fun in swat or something I was getting WRECKED by players of similar level who play the mode all day and was immediately turned off. Now I log on maybe once every few weeks and then I’m off again. They need new maps so badly and the ability to more easily muck around and have fun with a wide range of skill levels. But also just as you guys said I’m almost out of it now. I don’t know a new map or two will really bring me in full tilt like I once was because they missed the mark with content. I burnt out. Not to mention I can’t get rewards for playing ranked, I need to play stupid attrition matches or whatever for hours to unlock stuff rather than unlock through my rank.. ugh.. lol I’ll definitely keep my eye on things going forward but I’m a little disappointed that this was going to be my go to along with my narrative games to ultimately be something almost off my radar. It’s sad because I love halo but I guess we’ll see what they do.

Chris would make a really good 3rd host for defining duke.

I’d probably still be playing Halo if I had a reason to. Once I completed the battle pass, none of the weekly rewards or events have had anything I want. Plus, the maps have outstayed their welcome and aren’t as good as some of the classics.

Hearing you guys talking about the release and first month troubles reminds me vividly of Street Fighter V. While the game eventually turned out amazing, the release was barebones, lacking many features that it's predecessor had, online issues, core gameplay flaws, weird monetisation model, but the core gameplay was still solid. I see a future, similar to SFVs where it retains a decent playerbase and community but just gets fixed slowly over the span of 4 years. Maybe they could even pull a "Halo Infinite: Championship Edition" re-release.

2023-01-05 02:02:45 You speak about Halo not being the huge franchise for Xbox like it was back in the 360 days & I think its clear this is the case by the tv show being on Paramount and not the big guns like netflix, hbo & amazon

Have you guys ever noticed that Bonnie Ross and Kathleen Kennedy have never been in the same room at the same time?
