We were all surprised when, mere days ago, Sony decided to talk quite a bit more about its shadowy successor to 2016's PlayStation VR. This powerful machine is looking primed to give players a much higher-end experience than we've previously had in virtual reality, and with that comes many questions regarding manufacture, price, timing, games, and more. To help me walk through it, I invited friend-of-the-show and hardware expert Tom from Moore's Law is Dead and Broken Silicon to talk about what we've learned, what we now know, and what we may expect from PlayStation VR2. A look into the future, if you'll excuse the gratuitous pun.

I'm with you colin. I have no idea what the big deal is about a single cord, when the benefits are numerous.

Is it just me or does Tom sound like kripke from big bang theory. Love the episode though super excited to finally dip my toe into vr

You all would love the TV show big bang theory. Lots of video game, comic, sci-fi references.

I did just want to chime in, I believe at this point the Oculus quest 2 has sold more units than psvr, I believe the psvr sold about 6 million units and the quest 2 has sold about 10 million now. My guess would be Sony knows they cannot beat the low end VR competitor (oculus quest 2) but they can do high end VR cheaper and easier than on PC, with that my guess is the PSVR won't break $500, I feel like over that will be a hard sell for the average person when the quest 2 is only $300.

Hi Colin, Just listening to this episode and heard the NFT conversation. Not going to go into it, but you mentioned getting someone on for a SS+ episode. If this is something you actually want to cover, I would highly recommend looking at a podcast / YouTubers called Bankless, they have great discussions and really nice guys so super respectful of all views, I think it would make a great episode personally.

I'll try and remember to submit this question on the thread. But boys, isn't it obvious? Last of Us on ps3 came with factions. Last of us factions 2 and last of us remake are both all but confirmed. What if they came on the same disk? Cheers for all the beautiful content! Billy

I really love how Tom breaks down complex subjects in a way all can understand. That may be a greater skill than his impressive knowledge of all the technology.

Awesome show! Tom’s insight is so unique. Happy to see the continued partnering

2022-01-23 17:35:09 I see $10 upgrades incoming to play the likes of Blood & Truth and Astrobot Rescue Mission on PSVR2, but I am still genuinely excited for this new higher-end headset. I started setting money aside back when the controllers were originally announced, so at least I'll avoid the potential sticker shock when the time comes to pull the virtual trigger.

Enjoyed the episode but the amount of shade thrown at Xbox was interesting. Not saying Colin in particular as he has stock in Microsoft, but I get the feeling from Tom and others that they want Xbox to “fail” . As a lover of both brands , I truly believe that would be bad if either “failed”

Owning stock in Microsoft doesn't stop me from saying my piece. That said, the most common feedback I receive is that I'm too easy on Xbox.
