What's that there? In the dark? That familiar setup can only mean one thing: Splinter Cell is returning. In the form of a remake of the 2002 original, in fact. Questions remain, however. Is Ubisoft Toronto the studio that should be undertaking this project? Should a Splinter Cell remake be undertaken at all? We discuss. Even more Chris-centric news occurred this week, too, as rumors of Bully 2 from Rockstar persist, while Sony quietly made a first party purchase in the form of Valkyrie Entertainment, though it's nothing to be over-the-moon about. Also: Babylon's Fall gets a release date, all indications are Persona 3 is getting a current-gen console release, new DualSense (and console) colors arrive for PlayStation 5, and more. Then: Listener questions! What's a good way for a non-creative to work in the gaming industry? Is the use of the word 'biome' out of control? Are we making too much out of upgrade pricing? Has Colin become a communist?

Damn Colin. Guess we'll have to wait till next week to hear you rage over turtle rock.

Two official PlayStation documentaries I recommend are the 30th anniversary Naughty Dog one and the Raising Kratos, the story about the new God of War game

Never knew The Whiz was based on a real thing lol

Guns vs Kittens

You know how to do Mega Man in live action? Like the Battle Network series. Make real life live action, make the net world animated.

Cristian R

They pulled off a live action Pokémon with Detective Pikachu and that wasn’t so bad. Also that Alita: Battle Angel movie used decent effects for a live action robot.

Cristian R

Does it matter more that Keanu didn’t play Cyberpunk or that Tom Holland may not have played Uncharted?

Hey Col, Dan Houser did a podcast very recently called Bookish. It’s about the five books that changed his life. It’s very interesting to hear him talk about them. He mentions that he focused mostly on novels when designing his games because of their length and how much time passes within them. The most interesting part is his love for a book called Tender is the Night. There is some nuggets there, I think, about his departure. How he realized he couldn’t have it both ways like Fitzgerald’s character. You should check it out.

Don't know if its been said yet, but Square is trying to expand and add more servers for Final Fantasy XIV. However they are unable to aquire more at this time do to the world's chip shortage. Yoshida details this in the recent XIV blog post. The mass influx of players is pretty well documented and observed around July of this year. They have been having server congestion problems since then and have been steadily warning us players that is would be awhile. The good news is Endwalker has been fantastic so far. Once you wait the hours to get into the game.

I’ve been having an easy time getting in very early in the morning. But after lunch time man good luck

I actually watched Mark Wahlbergs show on HBO Max and he had Sully's mustache when he was on the set. He didn't seem to be a fan of wearing it so maybe he requested to not wear it.

Jeremy Seal

Cosmic Chris, please say you want a Bloodborne remaster. Also, I painted my PS5 faceplates matte black, and they look great.

Tonys_Always_Write

Just for those who are interested, this was the definition of biome. I agree that it's being overused these days, but I think Chris's feelings on the matter where on par. [biome] NOUN a large naturally occurring community of flora and fauna occupying a major habitat, e.g. forest or tundra>

The beauty of not having any social media is not having spoilers lol. As for the capitalism discussion part of the show i think colins point is unchecked capitalism just like any other form of government it's not good for the people

Love seeing a new episode every week especially being deployed over the holidays, cant wait to dig in!

Boardgame enjoyers stand down!

Derek Alcott

Dustin, please play Death's door. I am really enjoying it and it has a Legend of Zelda Link to the past feel to it.

Stephen Forgione

The Duality of Chris: Rescues friend with broken-down car: “don’t thank God, thank me” Receives socks for Christmas: “ah thank God, I needed these” Merry Christmas everyone!

Forza was the 4th game on th npd for November, so we know people are buying that game. I'll be interested to see December's npd report as I'm curious if we'll see Forza and Halo on the list. I've really enjoyed all the work "last stand" has done this year. Happy holidays/ new years to the team :)

Isn’t the original “bully” actually about bullying the actual bullies in the school?

Tony Colton

So on the Google Doc deletion fiasco... When you delete stuff in Google Docs it's not actually really gonna as every change you make to the document since it's inception is saved in the revision history 🤓

Zack E

I’m pretty sure many people now incredibly misunderstand the concept of the original Bully game.... Almost exactly like many people did prior to the original game coming out, and tried to prevent it from releasing. It’s very strange..... I think it’d be worth you guys taking another look. I don’t know if I’d call this game a “bullying” game necessarily.

Ryan Zimm

Colin, please go back to 13 Sentinels. I think you'll end up loving the SciFi storyline. I'd love a spoilercast for this game!

Anonymous

Colin, Go back to 13 Sentinels. The sci-Fi, interstellar-esque, story is right up your alley. A true Playstation gem!

Dave Ramos

Mega Man live action sounds like a terrible idea. And for the record, Mega Man NT Warrior was pretty good, based on the Battle Network series. And I know it will probably never happen, but I would love if Netflix made an anime on the Mega Man Zero games. The Zero games actually tell a very compelling story.

Jason Bolla

Colin, I know the last thing you need is more content to consume, but if you haven't given the IASIP podcast a listen, it's well worth it. Just Charlie, Glenn, and Rob discussing episodes, their history, and generally hanging out. You won't learn a whole lot, necessarily, but it's pretty entertaining. I've found it to be a great way to fill in the gaps between the new episodes (the Ireland episodes are fantastic).

Since a cgi mega man would already look disturbing enough my suggestion to Netflix is to go all in and use bad box art mega man. And I don’t mean a guy dressed as bad box art mega man, i want them to just use a static image of that grotesquely disproportionate monster and cut it into a full live action epic and cast beside all the a-list talent Netflix can bring to the table.

Chuck Rude

Today I learned that, at the same age I lost my virginity, many fellow Patrons still believed in Santa

NeO JD

Just wanted to say that No Way Home is indeed the best Spidey movie and I look forward to you and Dagan talking about it in 10 years. 😭

LastStandMedia

It would be funny to have it be about this sloppy, down-and-out wannabe hero who gets whipped into shape.

Joshua Fielder

I have started getting into board games over the last few years and it's wonderful. It's more than the target and walmart games, there's many thousands of games of various genres and such so I would recommend ppl check it out. The main thing though I wanted to add was just letting those unfamiliar know how big asmodee is. Its a huge company that has bought many others and brought them under their umbrella much like embracer itself. So it is a really big deal. Great episode as always boys.

Samuel Zamora

I agree with Dustin’s stance on the gift exchange to kids from parents / Santa. I want them kids to know it was me who got the dope ass gift, not the dude that’s allowed breaking and entering.

Sam Lee

A Gran Turismo arcade machine would be pretty cool, maybe a first person Ape Escape game with a net as a controller. If they want something for all ages I suppose an Astro Bot arcade game would fit the bill.

Hose A Contra Razz

Chris says “no don’t thank God for me picking you up”, minutes later Chris says thank God for socks as a present.

LastStandMedia

Board games are great. I just wish there was more time to experience all of this wonderful entertainment.

The Sony arcade game should be The Last of Us done in the style of The House of the Dead. It wouldn’t necessarily bring in a younger crowd to Sony IP but it would be a lot of fun!

Greg Hommel

I wish I would hear this angle regarding the next gen upgrade debacle. Isn’t it a valid argument to say that Sony adds 3D sound profiles, haptic feedback and performance/quality upgrades. This seems like enough work to justify some charge. What say you guys? Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Greg Hommel

I was thinking that same thing Sam. When I take my kids to the arcade I would pump as much in to a GT cabinet as they do in to every other one.

drivebyjoe

Definitive is another word that is now in everyone's vocabulary after the GTA drop 😂
