A few days ago, the publication Wired quietly published a 15 minute-long video starring Mark Cerny -- the lead architect of the PS5, as well as PS4 and Vita -- going over the various features of PlayStation 5, and how things have played out for the console over its first 365 days on the market. It's a really fascinating watch, invoking the beloved Mark Cerny Power Hour from 2020, and while there's no new information in the video, per se, it still readily reminds us of what PS5 has done, can do, and will do. To go over Cerny's video in more granular detail and talk about PlayStation 5's SSD, CPU and GPU, DualSense, and more -- and how all of it has or hasn't lived up to its promise after year one -- I (Colin!) invited Tom from Moore's Law Is Dead to +. The load times are snappy. Should they be snappier? The resolutions are crisp and the framerates are fast. Should they be crisper and faster? Is DualSense DualSensy enough? Let's chat.

Man, what a great episode!

David Graham

The fact that I was so excited when Tom asked for more time shows just how good of an episode this was.

I would have loved for this chat to be an hour longer. So much insight from both of you. I really love this type of episodes!

Absolutely fantastic interview full of great insight. I echo everyone else saying that it would have been nice to get a longer episode but even more reason to have Tom on again.

I wouldn't fret over PSVR2 being wired. I am betting they'll come out with a premium Wireless adapter. This has happned with the Oculus.

NuclearProstate

This is such a great episode. I wish it was four hours long 😂

Great episode. I do want to point out that the PS5 starts at $400. It’s never communicated that way by any outlet. It’s always compared as the same as Xbox. I own two digital PS5’s and I’m blown away about how much more console I’m getting at that 400 price point.

JD

Same! I got sad when it was wrapping up and that was a gift.

LastStandMedia

This is technically true, but Sony isn't producing many of the $400 machines. They have to make a choice on where they want to put their resources, after all, and it's obviously going to be in the more expensive machine. I'd be surprised if the sales ratio was any better than 10:1.

This was an excellent episode. I’m not very tech savvy but I know all the the marketing terms and roughly what it all means but Tom spoke in a language a completely understood. Great work.
