Celebrating PlayStation 5's First Birthday | Sacred Symbols+ Episode 137

We've arrived at PlayStation's first birthday, and we've obviously much to say. The console is a juggernaut, frankly: It's powerful, sleek, and packs some great games, too. But it's not without its problems and detriments, particularly when faced with competitors doing some different and exciting things in the space. Still -- from the SSD to DualSense, and everything in between -- PS5 is a marvel, and we want to celebrate it, not with eyes closed, but rather with eyes wide open. Let's examine year one of Sony's newest hardware, warts and all.

I heard a Big Mozz from Sheetz cures COVID! True facts!

I truly believe the internet over-exaggerates the scalper situation. Everyone I know that really wanted a next-gen console has one already and didn’t have to pay more than MSRP.

I agree and disagree. I agree because the majority of my friends have been able to get one at MSRP. However, there are a few friends that still do not have one and it wasn't for a lack of effort compared to the rest of us. There is still luck of being at the right place, right time of it all.

I know it’s technically a PS4 game, but the PS5 version of Ghost of Tsushima loads so damn quickly. Like 1-2 seconds to load into the game from the main menu. The same when fast traveling. Also the way it uses Dualsense is great.

I do think the math has to eventually come up in your favor if you're trying enough, but as I said, I would have spent $1,000 at launch to have one if I didn't get a pre-order.

I think I agree with you for the most part - when I actually "tried" to get one, it took about 24 hours once i followed a few people on twitter and put my alerts on. That was after 3-4 months of waiting for stock in store

On the note of specific PS5’s acting weird, I had an issue where the home screen would be totally uncontrollable when coming back in from rest mode but other things, like the quick access bar or in-game controls, would be totally fine. Fortunately, a recent patch fixed it but I dealt with this problem for several months!

😂 The part Colin said to Dustin "because you're a fucking dork" Dustin's reaction is awesome 😂, he wants to keep talking and then realized, what did he just say, so he's like, "excuse me" 😂. Man, it's probably not that funny but I think it's really funny, love this trio 👌.

I think I've been pretty lucky with regards to stick drift. I've had a ton of consoles, but I've really only had unsolvable drift on one console. The Switch. I had 3 separate sticks across several switch units experience drift in the family, and for the most part I've fixed them all myself by buying new sticks or new joycons. These were intermittent drift, which means it couldn't be gotten rid of with recalibration. Every other system if I have a little drift I could just recalibrate the stick and the drift would go away. I think there was one off-brand controller where the drift got so bad that I couldn't recalibrate that away, but it was rare. Wow, I'm super far behind on listening to the bonus content.
