Bad news: Sony isn't going to be able to make as many PlayStation 5 consoles as it was hoping, at least in the short term. What does that mean for you? It means that, if you're still on the hunt for a console, you may want to get used to the idea of ponying up for a black market unit or settle in for a long and painful winter. We discuss. Plus: Gaming engine Unity has made a substantial acquisition, Q-Games acquires The Tomorrow Children from Sony, licensing issues bog down GTA's re-releases and Metal Gear Solid's legacy titles alike, Konami has totally botched the rollout of eFootball, and so on, and so on, and so on. Listener inquiries allow us to cleanly wrap things up as always, touching on subjects like Mass Effect's revival, the demise of Jump Force, the uncertain future of Media Molecule, and word from a funeral director that -- yes -- she listens to Sacred Symbols while embalming bodies. We suppose somebody's gotta do it.

How do these thumbnails keep getting better?

I bought two gifts for my wife from your sister’s shop. Very excited to get them!

The jaywalking conversation is funny. When I moved to NYC I learned to just cross the street when no cars were coming. The tech company I worked for would fly us out to Seattle every year for an entire week, and you could tell who was from the New York office due to the jaywalking lol

Joe Perez

LOL the thumbnail!!! 😂😂😂

MarkGrouch

That’s definitely the best thumbnail yet.

Guys, I’m a conservative, totally baffled by the whole ‘woke’ culture, and theoretically do agree with you about the Koran thing, but in reality… no, just no. A brand can not, at all, do that kind of thing. It’s seriously detrimental. Have you seen the horrific repercussions after people have disrespected the Koran? Murders. Terrorism. Chaos. Like I say, in theory I agree with you but as someone who runs a brand marketing company, you can NOT have this sort of thing in a video game! It’s serious in terms of the backlash you’d get. Just take a look at how many Muslims there are in the world. I’m actually massively surprised this news hasn’t taken off worldwide. Last point: I think a random dev has put this in as a joke. No way on EARTH could the company sign this decision off!!

The Q-Games story reminds me of when Sony allowed Harmonix to use Kickstarter to help fund a new Amplitude game. Sony still owns the Amplitude IP, unlike the Tomorrow Children in which they gave back to Q-Games.

They should’ve had pages of “How to Clean Practically Anything” strewn across the floor of the zombies map.

I don’t believe reviews are paid but positive reviews are encouraged if you want early review or perks of future games from certain companies.

Official prediction. Chrono Cross Remaster at the Game Awards.

I gave up on trying to get a ps5, got oculus quest 2 instead and damn is RE4 great in vr.

Brandon Soto

Yeah, YouTube is done. Such a tone-deaf and ridiculous move on their part. The dislike button is needed, and if companies don’t like being criticized, too bad.

Correction: Unity is a publicly-traded company with a market cap of 55.5B

I agree, Christians and Catholic’s take jokes and scrutiny on the chin. Radical Muslims catch wind and they throw a grenade on the board room table.

I love Dustin but got to admit, it was refreshingly nostalgic to have just the father and his first born son on this one.

Anonymous

No hate towards Dustin but it was so nice to just hear my two main hosts again.

Nope. Totally disagree. Why do so many people love a good conspiracy! Or more to the point, why are so many people so cynical about life, these days.

$600-$700 for a scalped PS5 is the exception, not the rule. Scalped units are more commonly around the $1000 range. You're probably about as likely to be able to get a new unit at retail as you are a scalped unity for $600-$700

Damn Colin, every time you mention White Knight Chronicles you make me .....WETA. How's that? 😂

OrochiNewsTeam

Wait, in reference to the Dante's Infernal promo you mentioned they sent press packages to represent the seven deadly sins. I'm just curious what did they send for lust? I'm not done listening at this moment but I trust this episode is incredible. Good day to you.

Adam Keith

Love this pic. “Here’s to you, dad.” 🥃

I'm surprised Demonik wasn't mentioned when referencing Grandma's Boy. The canceled 360 game by Clive Barker that was featured in Grandma's Boy running on the original XBox.

Hey Colin, just a small correction. HBO’s “The Last of Us” has not wrapped up production. They are going to be shooting the show till next summer. As of right now they plan to wrap up production June 8, 2022. I’m an Editor in the film and television industry in Calgary. I know a lot of people working on the show. As always, thanks for the great content.

Hey boys, just FYI Unity is a public company, and is actually pretty huge, with a market cap of over 50B. This puts them at more than 2.5X the value of Take Two, moderately bigger than EA, and around the same size as Activision Blizzard. I've been a (small) shareholder of them for some time, and it's safe to say their ambitions go way outside of the gaming industry. While I think the Weta purchase could have some synergies for their gaming arm, I see it as more productive for the other aspects of their business. Peace ✌️

Wooooooow what a thumbnail

Sounds like Dexter is playing Halo like I played the PC version of Doom in like 1997. Arrow keys to move, spacebar to shoot, no idea what strafing even means.

Now see, that’s a problem with Chris talking about Forza Horizon 5. It’s not in good shape. It’s buggy as shit, the physics system is full of helium, the sound is screwed, etc. Nothing that can’t be fixed by a patch but if Days Gone gets hammered for being buggy before release then Forza’s bugs shouldn’t be completely overlooked. Is this lack of racing game experience, or something else?

Tonys_Always_Write

I definitely believe that the YouTube dislike thing is about protecting monied interests, but I also jus saw a Forbse article titled "This Week's Most Disliked Video Highlights Negative Sentiment Toward Covid Vaccine for Kids." (Please stop) I'm not here to argue the merits of Covid vaccination. It just made me further think that by hiding dilikes on videos YouTube is all together hiding dissent. Human psychology often strives to fit in. So if someone has no signifier that it's "ok" to feel the way they do they are more likely to remain silent. It's just another step of big tech controlling the narrative of anything they want. P.S. Colin have you considered uploading your videos elsewhere in addition to YouTube? I respect "going where the viewers are," but as someone who does dislike YT I would gladly watch elsewhere to support competition.

Owen

Way to put it back on the listener during the pronoun thing. “Why does it bother you” should be a question people should regularly ask themselves. You don’t wanna pronoun? Then don’t. “Stop acting like you care” is a thing I yell into the void regularly

LastStandMedia

As usual, I think there's gradient. I don't see what the big deal is about normal, thousands-of-years-old pronouns and gender identifiers!

Greg Hommel

https://youtu.be/AuW0gfv8QZY The beautiful part is people seem to be enjoying the wackiness. So pop-in is usually far off objects. Check out this video for the most amazing(and egregious) example of “pop-in”.

Where do you submit questions for the show?

A weekly thread goes up for $2+/month subs. Keep an eye on the newsfeed. For Sacred, it goes live on Wednesdays and is deleted on Thursdays.
