You know things are changing amongst the ecosystem when Xbox actually shares data about the performance of their games. Beyond Game Pass, the team typically keeps the numbers close to their chest however that's not the case with Forza Horizon 5 which is the biggest Xbox Game Studios title to date. At a staggering 4.5 million players and one of those millions coming from those willing to pay for early access, the tremendous success of this open world racer brings about many questions for the rest of the first party family's upcoming releases. On top of that, the OG Checker Ryan McCaffrey conducted an interview with Lord and Savior Godd Howard. It's there in a transparent conversation that we get a close look at how Todd feels about the long gap between Skyrim and the next mainline entry for Elder Scrolls. Furthermore we hear some thoughts on the possibility of handing off the Fallout license and even an affirmation on Starfield's release date. It's jam packed from top to bottom with further insight on the next acquisition via Phil Spencer and how the team at Xbox wants tempered expectations for nearly all their events.

Matty question did you play Sonic Adventure the regular version or the Director's Cut version? I want to buy it on my Xbox but not sure which version to get. Also definitely one of my pinnacle games.

PS All Stars is one of the best smash clones???? Rivals of Aether, Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl, and Project M would like to speak with you in the principal’s office Matty

Hey Dukes, I just have to say something about the early access to Forza Horizon 5 paid DLC. When I ordered the Premium Add-on a few months back, I did it because I wanted all of the extra content. I did see that you got the game early, but at the time I wasn't really bothered about that. I actually see it as a nice bonus rather than the reason I bought the Premium Add-on. Anyway, keep up the great work

Great show guys. I enjoy listening to this podcast more and more with each new episode. This has become my main Xbox podcast. I became a patron for Sacred Symbols, and I’m staying because of Defining Duke!

Great topics this week boys. Bethesda’s focus on making these massive games that take many years to develop is puzzling to me. Personally I’d prefer shorter games that they can get out more quickly, but I know I am probably in the minority. I don’t need an 80 hour fallout in 2032, how about a 20 hour tighter fallout sooner?!

I played the DX version on PC, but heavily modded to be effectively a full remaster of the OG Dreamcast version. It’s good stuff.

Some info on CrossfireX that seems to be unknown (also they aren't talking about this) but the game is two parts. A South Korean free-to-play multiplayer game that people compare to Counterstrike. And then a single player campaign from Remedy. This quote was at the bottom of the trailer in the July 2020 showcase: "Crossfirex multiplayer is free to play (Xbox Live Gold required), single player campaign not in Xbox Game Pass (sold separately)" At one point Microsoft was listed as the publisher for CrossfireX, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. This is a strange release. Xbox has the exclusive on Remedy's first new game since Control (GOTY nom) and they're not really talking about it. Also will be strange if not in Game Pass, I'm planning on getting it anyways.

Yep that's how I always saw it. The Premium addition is paying for all the extra content on the front end.......additionally you get early access.

MGS getting taken off the digital store isn’t a buying physically win. Those who bought digitally didn’t lose access to copies they paid for, they just aren’t selling new copies, so it wouldn’t be any different than Target no longer selling the disk of a game.

Same Matty! Its a great game, but sorely needs crossplay. Game is basically dead at this point.

Especially now that this event happened I think it's very smart that they downplay things even when they do announce major surprises. Keeping expectations low no matter what will always cause a bigger "wow" factor. Always being mysterious and keeping expectations low makes it so we never know what to expect from an event, from a marketing standpoint they are wisely wrestling the "justified complaints" away from Twitter. Is someone actually going to bitch about geting something exciting? When you look at Xbox's online presence they are increasingly winning the "meme war," this is part of that.

Is Forza getting a free pass? The sound is is screwed up, the physics are screwed up, it’s really a buggy mess compared to past Forza Horizon titles. I don’t hear any reviewer mentioning it as they often do when scoring other titles. So far, you guys haven’t mentioned it either. Did you not experience any of these glitches?
