We have some awesome news for long-time PlayStation fans: The Mother of Uncharted, Amy Hennig, is finally returning with something new. Seriously. And it's just in the nick of time, since it's been a staggering 10 years since Uncharted 3 launched on PS3, which was her last brainchild. Heck, it's been nearly eight years since she left Naughty Dog! So it's great to know what she's working on next, but there's a catch, of course: She's making a Marvel game. And thus, both the excitement and complaining begin in earnest, and naturally, we must take part. Other news also crossed our desk this week, including the $50 million loss Take Two is taking on a cancelled game codenamed Volt, the going-public nature of publisher Devolver Digital (which Sony now owns 5% of), the potential rise of a true AAA console game out of China, Call of Duty 2022 rumors, and so much more. We also get into listener questions, as is our wont. Will Sony ever create a dedicated PC launcher? Did Guardians of the Galaxy benefit greatly from not being overexposed? Is there a stigma attached with Game Pass games? Did Chris accidentally leave his "jerk tissues" in-frame?

Dagan is the true weeb king. Dustin is but a boy of spring. Dagan has faced many harsh winters paying insane prices for bootleg OVA vhs’s, and has thus sired the weebs of now.

Chris come to maine there are plenty of mooses up here there not that bad! But don’t honk at them.. lol

i appreciate the star fox adventures mention! a really charming zelda-adjacent entry that gets dogpiled on whenever it’s brought up because of what it is not. it has some great redeeming qualities!

Hey looking forward to you doing the Game Release "Fantasy" thing. Always a fun form of speculation... are y'all going to get Micah, Dagan and the Duke boys in on it?

Took a little break from deathstranding to play deathloop and I like it but it has a few issues: Game is very easy. I can see that if you put your mind to it you can kill people in creative ways. But what's the point if I can just shoot my way through most of the game? I hate that the game never shuts up.... it just kinda stops you every 5 mins to say "HEY DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN DO THIS?! The biggest problem tho is game stability the game has crashed on me 3 times in only 2 solid sessions of play.

Just a heads up living in Montana I can attest moose are huge. You really don't want to mess with them they will mess you up. I hit 1 doing 45 down a dirt road and totaled my pickup. I did survive with a couple of broken bones. The moose literally got up and ran away after I hit it. It was like hitting a brick wall

“Acid” is Green! Poison is purple.. errr Whatever.

Great show guys. The more impressive aspect of Nintendo selling 38 million copies of Mario Kart, 32 million copies of Animal Crossing, etc. is something you touched on with Mafia III…unit price. Nintendo sold all those copies at or near full price. Sony sells a lot of copies of games, but the tail end of those end up being $10-$20. Nintendo games NEVER (exaggerating slightly for effect) go on sale, so all those were sold at $40, $50, or $60…crazy numbers.

Oh yeah it's Friday and my favorite podcast.

One of the listener write ins referred to everyone going easy on the Battlefield beta dispite it's technical state. While that may be true for the casual onlooker, the Battlefield community was distraught over not just the state of the beta, but the overall changes to the games core class system.

In regards to Chris hearing eternals is terrible. It’s not. It’s exactly what you were just asking for. It’s something new. 70% of the movie is dialogue and intense character building. It’s something that we actually haven’t seen before and that’s why critics have gone hard at it. The worst part of the movie is act 3 and that’s because it gets back to the standard MCU movie big finish. The movie is an actual fresh take and it does what opposite of what you all complained about

Christopher the listener should maybe get his thyroid levels checked if he hasn't already. All the the symptoms he is describing have co-morbidity with a bunch of things but one standout one to me is low thyroid levels or hypothyroidism. It can make you tired, cold, achy, and more. Generally you'll feel slowed down and sad. If you are a man and you're younger than 40 doctors may be overlooking it. It's most common in middle aged woman but anyone of any age can get it, It especially runs in families, so if anyone in your family has it ask your doctors to check your Thyroid Stimulating Hormone levels or TSH. This will tell you if there is anything off with the thyroid. It's a simple blood test and quick to do. hope you get the answers you need. I am not a doctor but I have this condition and through a similar experience. Also have your doctors check your Vitamin D and Vitamin B-12 levels as these Vitamins have a big impact on mood and energy levels. Vitamin B-12 deficiency is fairly common in the United States and Vitamin D deficiency is very common in places that don't get much sunshine.

Loved the song at the end, felt like it was 2011 for a little bit😆

I can confirm the Trejos Tacos in FC6. I played the mission. It was super short but a little funny. You get the ingredients and then protect him as he makes the tacos. The bad guy shouts from the shadows "I will kill you for those tasty tacos"

Regarding a PlayStation PC launcher, PlayStation Now already has a PC app. I don't really think it would be a bridge too far to allow users to download the PC game code for their releases already available (or coming soon) to PS Now

My favourite colour is Purple - always has been. It’s the only colour I truly love. But I’m Canadian so who knows.

SS 175: Weenie Whisperer Shrinks the Deer Rumors have it as Amy’s game is Daredevil. But if it turns out to be X-Men, I’ll be asking you some questions mister.

What up boys! I jumped back into Returnal after I saw the suspend feature update, and the “save cheat” stuff to try it out because the game was just kicking my ass before the update. I don’t know if they made the game super easy but I finished it that same day I decided to jump back in without even using the suspend feature or cloud cheat. I wonder if they also made the game easier, Or was it one of those “sleep it off and do it tomorrow” things where you beat a boss you were having trouble with the day before. Keep it up!

gekko

The weeb holocaust joke was hilarious lmao still thinking about it

neonyx171

Hey, could someone post the link to Colin's sister's shop website? I keep missing the spelling. Thanks!

Final Fantasy 14 is an example where they are having success by updating and adding to the core game. The game originally launched on PS3 and was eventually phased off the console with future expansions.

Regarding Dustin's comments about Tales of Arise's story being boring: Really? I'm about 65 hours in and I am loving the story. I feel like almost every character has interesting depth to them - something that they are trying to overcome. I find the story to be engaging and always moving forward in meaningful ways. I think Dustin just has to admit to himself that he's just not in the mood for this game at this time. Maybe he should come back to it later, because this game is excellent. Lol. Disclosure: This is my very first Tales game.

There’s No I in LLC

We should get more musical outros that was genuinely great.

Tonys_Always_Write

Hey Colin. I just thought I would let you know that Call of duty: Black ops Cold war (lol) had multiple endings based on descisions the player could make, and if I recall correctly Infinite Warefare, and Black Ops II played around with you being able to choose which mission you would go to. So I'm not sure that a moral compass in the next Call of Duty is something we should get too excited for.

LastStandMedia

It could be that your mind has worked on the 'problem' for a while and you're better-equipped now. =)

Leonard Jacobson

I'm glad Dustin and Micah at least understands why Call of Duty fans buy the game every year. My take, as a Call of Duty multiplayer fan since the original Modern Warfare, is that I just don't think every game needs to appeal to everyone. I buy it because it's reliable and consistent. I know I'm going to get a competitive, solid shooter every single year that still feels amazing. If I want to play Persona, I'll just go do that. If I want The Last of Us: Part II, I'll go play that. There are still amazing developers making interesting unique experiences.

LastStandMedia

I've never hated on CoD, personally. I used to be a fan. Got a little rote for me at some point, but I've never disliked it... and have often vocally stood up for it!

Mark Whittington

So Colin, now that we've seen a million+ people pay to access Forza Horizon 5 a few days early from the Gamepass release, do you still maintain that GP is training people not to buy games?

Douglas Morreale

I put Amy Hennig in the same league as Jade Raymond. Someone who did some cool shit a decade ago but little if anything since. Too much gravitas is placed on her name.

The Eclectic Gamer

No, because racing games just like fighting games and sports games cater to a completely different demographic of gamers. Plus the game is ultimately making its way to game pass mere days later or else the current sales would be 3-5 mil possibly. Also it’s being heralded as one of the best racing games ever created. Just because one or 2 million people opt for the premium edition doesn’t change the fact that game pass as a service creates a circumstance where people are totally fine building absurd backlogs bouncing in and out of games and not keeping up with the zeitgeist of the industry because they’re playing stuff from 2-3 years ago.

Hose A Contra Razz

I thought by the title it was about the movie

Lee Bull

The co-founders of Ember Lab pronounce it Kayna, closer to Kena like we all say. It definitely isn't Keena. Only the young kids in the game say that and that's probably a mistake on their respective VAs part.

The Eclectic Gamer

Considering it was mentioned on the show, I feel it is prudent to use my single allowed individual comment to highlight the fallacy and contradiction of saying that if you are isolated from the whims of large gaming sites and editors that you are freed from the need to rush games. If you are playing over 50% of a game’s 10+ hour length over a 3 day span to make a spoilercast deadline with individuals already scheduled in for a particular record date, how is it different from hitting a predetermined deadline to write a review? I miss the days of Colin doing a four hour gaming session only to stop to grab a bite to eat or take a shit. Just based off following your trophy acquisition based off my own you’re going to finish Kena at around 1045 Monday evening. I imagine you dropped that shit to story difficulty lol at least you’re cracking the whip on Dustin to plow through tales of arise but I feel it’s just gonna be another defer to Matty Plays type of spoilercast because he’s not gonna have anything glowing to say unless things pick up for him. Also stop paying Chris $400 for an episode of SS.

Daniel Maynard

Hey, not sure it's a correction, but Sony announced that native discord integration is coming to PS5 IN 2022. The tone of the conversation seemed like non of you were sure. Thanks for the great show!

The last proper Overwatch map was released in May 2019. The last character released was Echo in April 2020. We are starving over here!

LastStandMedia

Jade Raymond produced Assassin's Creed and a version of Watch Dogs that never came out. Amy Hennig created, wrote, and directed the Legacy of Kain and Uncharted series.

You're starting to come off as annoying, and you will be removed from the Last Stand Patreon if it persists. Be well. <3

Oh I know, just putting my own emphasis on it 🙂 great podcast as always
