While there's no doubt Microsoft's Xbox Series X is doing great, there's also no doubt that Sony's PlayStation 5 is doing even better. Markedly so. Microsoft stubbornly refuses to publicly state how many consoles it has sold, but we now know that Sony has surpassed 13 million in less than a year, almost certainly beginning to put some distance between PS5 and XSX. Let's discuss what these new sales figures mean, and whether inertia might be turning into new momentum. Also: Guerrilla is hiring for external Horizon projects, Warner Bros. is making a goofy-looking crossover fighter, the next PlayStation-to-PC game isn't one you may have expected, Stardew Valley's spiritual successor looks awfully endearing, PS+ games are en route, and more. I know Twitter has the problems Colin mentioned, and I think Reddit even has this issue x10 because it creates a community hive mind. Outside of sports and games I avoid Reddit like the plague. It’s a shame too because pre 2015 Reddit was actually generally useful.

I obviously can only speak for myself, but I didn't take it as you making fun of Kit Harington for being short....i DID take offense to the insinuation that being short meant he can't fight or lead. Sure, he could never beat The Mountain in hand to hand combat. But it takes brains and charisma to lead (nothing to do with height), and skill to fight (yeah yeah, i know there are other factors).

Hey guys! Chris was talking about Rockstar removing the confederate flag from GTA Vice City because of the game coming to the App Store. Although that could be the reason and makes sense, their newest show called Invasion on AppleTV+ has a whole scene that shows the confederate flag about three times, also tied to some assholes with dogs in cages. It’s just all weird and inconsistent. Love y’all!

Chris ripping on Nickelodeon All-Stars Brawl bummed me out so bad. Me and my Zoomer siblings love the brawler, as there are absolutely no parallels except for Smash Brothers on an entirely separate console that I don't own, and PlayStation All-Stars which is a tad different and out of style. Chris only says the game is a meme, which completely dismisses the quality and attention that the devs put in to this game. It definitely fills a void. And the Warner Bros fighter really excited me and my 3 sisters. Chris is basically saying that the developers can't make what they want to make simply because something better already exists. Honestly I'm not upset I'm just sad. Sackboy is something I still have fun playing with them on weekends and with my 6 year old niece. Kind of makes me wanna tune out and listen to something else :(

This is interesting. I think what we need to know for sure before anything else is if it's truly not in the game. It's possible it's just for the ad (though I doubt it). THEN we can figure out where to go. =)

I could see the A Quiet Place game being exactly like it to the tee (homemade gadgets, stealth, sound weapons) as you mentioned and that would have promise imo

On the snacking while gaming conversation, I have recently started using chopsticks to eat cheetos and various other messy snacks while gaming and it has been a revelation. Highly recommend chopsticks for snacking.

I always brush my teeth in the shower, I got it from the military as well, it can save you a couple of vital minutes lol. Plus it just makes the toothpaste feel somehow more refreshing, might be the mint mixing with the hot steam when you breath it in. And how are people upset by the Far Cry email 😂it's just a bit of fun. People really do love to be a victim.

This will definitely cause some issues with the console crusaders but regarding the Sackboy port, would it make more sense for Sony to bring that to Switch? Personally, I don’t see Nintendo and Sony (with no current handheld) as true competitors. I know Sony just adopted the PC strategy but in many ways, Switch’s market is similar. Plus, there’s very little interest in Sackboy on PS, but on Switch, it seems perfect. I could see an insane ROI which could allow them to be more adventurous/creative on some new (or dormant) IP. P.S. Sony tell me you’re making another handheld and I’ll never mention this again lol

I feel so much better after hearing Colin and Chris talk about Deathloop. I thought something was wrong with me cause I just wasn’t feeling it at all. I tried to force myself through it as well, but it just frustrates me even more. It’s a chore of a game. Definitely not fun to play in my opinion. I get why some people like it. Just not for me.

I think Colin's viewpoint on whether or not PS5 is "worth it yet" is necessarily tinged with having always been exclusively a console player (which of course is understandable and in no way makes him "wrong"). Every year or every other year, tons of us who play in the PC space stand in line outside stores in the freezing cold for hours, or sleep on sidewalks overnight, just for the chance to be one of the lucky ones that day who gets the "privilege" of being allowed to spend $500, $700, $900, or even $1,500 on a new GPU just so the games we already own will run at 60fps instead of 45fps, or so they'll run on "ultra" graphics settings instead of "very high". I think that like it or not, consoles are becoming more like PCs every generation, and that's not going to stop any time soon (probably until consoles are gone and the major players just become subscription streaming services). Instead of having a new Mario or Sonic at launch every generation to entice buyers into new hardware, it's going to be about getting higher framerates, higher resolution, better load times, etc. on a player's current favorite games, and also adding more technology in the form of greater AI, machine learning, and other things that benefit games (Nvidia DLSS type things).

Usually a year or so in I buy a second controller and use my launch controller as the "snack" controller. I don't trash it, but if I want to have a snack while I play I don't have to be as concerned with that controller.

Would be interesting to explore other genres within Horizon universe. A RTS game would be fun with the different factions being able to build the “Machines” instead of military vehicles.

As someone who watches sports and plays games, these two things are so overly negative most of the time on Twitter and I just don't bother anymore.

Sony sales are amazing. Sales are likely driven by some of the fear of missing out / wanting something that is hard to get. Xbox sales would likely be better than they are because they made a strategic decision to upgrade all their Game Pass server blades to the Xbox Series architecture. Great to see strong competition.

My snack question was not a trick question! I, like Chris, reach for a snack if I die, gameplay stops or I have to quickly stop to do something. I'm not sure anyone will see this but I just wanted to say that I appreciated the talk about social media and its toxicity at the beginning of this episode. I'm a Pro-Wrestler, and a few months ago, one of my friends was injured very badly. It kind of blew up online recently and people were just saying the most awful things about this guy they didn't know like he somehow deserved it. This was the first time I experienced something like this on a personal level. But I just want to thank you guys for talking about this because it made me feel not so alone in this type of experience. I never realized how much this can effect you when you are so close to it.
