Pixel Perfect | Sacred Symbols+ Episode 115

Meet Henry Maxwell, a games industry artist with an interesting and useful story: Interesting in that he began as a 3D artist only to find his way to pixelwork, and useful in that his route through life could very well be a map for your own. In the continuing spirit of Fireside Chats, I sat down with Henry to pick his brain about his education, his early work in the industry, his triumphs and failures (including a Kickstarter game that was funded, but never came to fruition), and more. We also talk about how he found his way to Lillymo (the game studio Colin co-owns), and how you, too, might be able to work for yourself, on your own, doing what you love, whatever that might be. The real question is: Do you have the courage and tenacity? Is the timing right? Do you even really, truly want it at all? Follow Henry on Twitter: https://twitter.com/MajestysThird

Being someone in the information gathering stage of starting private practice work, I’m truly thankful for the content the past several weeks. It’s been inspiring and motivating. Very best wishes!

Thanks for bringing a discussion around the art side! Every artist’s journey is really individual and often non linear. My journey also started with 3D game art. However I’ve meandered through fine/traditional art, to illustration and concept. I’ve been in animation the last few years as a background illustrator, however I know my destiny is in indie games.
