We thought we'd try something a little different. In the spirit of decades of sports and political talk radio, we wanted to open our very own Sacred Symbols phone lines (so to speak) to talk directly with the audience. So -- for the first time ever! -- we take calls from listeners wanting to chat about the open world potential of Cloud Chamber's BioShock project, whether Kojima will or won't go with Sony for his next game, Square Enix's bold vow to change the very fundamentals of Dragon Quest, potential PlayStation first party studio rankings, and much more. (Thank you to all who took the time to call-in via Last Stand Media's official Discord! We will absolutely be doing this again.)

Good shit sir

Nathan Favreau

I had the time to call and thought it would be really cool to call in but than I realized I had nothing to say besides Hi. So “Hi”. Also looking forward to seeing this format again.

Dave Ramos

My call was dropped, came so close to getting on. Next time!

Ascension was a Sci-Fi channel miniseries not Netflix. Still peeved it didn't get a season.

BM

Props to the callers. I thought it was going to be a stuttering mess like sports radio call-ins.

Great job as usual

Asique Alam

This was good, I would love to call in next time. Gonna be thinking about what to ask or say until then.

PuppiesOnParade

Like this new episode style, however, I'd like a little more conversation from our boy, Dustin. We can share the love.

brody_low

Man, I love talk radio. Colin I'm so happy you decided to add this to the brand. I grew up listening to stuff like this, maybe I'll call in soon!

Anonymous

You guys keep adding more and more for us supporters. Great to listen to you once again. Thanks for the ever high quality content. Oh and Dustin....... good boy.

Straw hat ninja XD

Everyone was so excited and well behaved. I never finished the jaffe pod when Colin went on his show so maybe there's some shit talking in that episode that's funny. Keep it up! I thought for sure when the UK caller asked about pricing it would devolve then but alas politeness was center stage.

Michael Limauro

Fantastic episode, really enjoy the on the fly nature of it. Callers did great

Brandon Soto

Wow, such a great episode! I’m gonna try to make the next one. Still tryna learn how to use Discord. 😅

LastStandMedia

I agree. Everyone did a great job. We cut some folks out, but only because of connection issues, not content.

Piston Pants

Since I was the one who put the original comment shitting on this idea on the last episode of Sacred Symbols, I thought it fair to do a mea culpa here. When Colin brought this up on the show last week I had assumed he meant take calls as a new feature of sacred symbols itself, say in place of listeners questions. But if it is it's own thing as a separate call in show, then that changes my opinion of it in that I won't listen to it and not have to skip around on the normal show if it were on that.

Much love :)

James McGivern

Man this was great. Nice job all

Hey Collin slay the spire is a great deck building game where your deck is different every time that you play and there are multiple characters that do different things. I wouldn't say that it's a true roguelite where you have persistent upgrades as much as card unlocks over the course of the game. Monster train is kind of in the same realm but a little bit more of upgradable cards and characters during your play.

Josh Lucas

It’s called a Discord server :P

GameSimp

The McDonalds call in was priceless

Anonymous

This may be a dumb question, but how do I get access to the Discord server? I never use it, but I’d like to be more involved in the community. 🤷🏾‍♂️ Thank you.

lazer_josh

Dustin sit and listen like a good boy

I heard you give all the credit to Jaffe for the calls but I remember you taking calls on Beyond back in the day....Brandon.com sticks out as a memory 😂

Luke Silletta

Holy shit I remember watching Ascension when it aired. I remember thinking it had Bioshock vibes. Too bad they didn't make anymore of it.

Love this call-in format. The call quality for most callers through discord sounds great and love that the calls are more like a back and forth conversation with Colin instead of just asking a question and hanging up. Looking forward to the next one!

Aurang

I saw in your eyes, how much you admired the phone calls on David's Stream. I will try to call in next time Colin! :)

This was really cool...

$80 for a new PS5 game in some states is still not $100 in the entirety of EU, AU, NZ, and other regions. It's just too much for a video game (just like $599 proved to be too much for the PS3), and I feel like Sony's going to feel a drop in sales in these regions. Parents won't be buying games for their kids that are this expensive, kids won't have enough allowance to buy them, and even adults like me, that could afford them, will have a hard time justifying such a purchase, when they have a backlog, deals on PSS, and a steady drop of PS+ games every month. At least Sony should do something about the prices of their digital games, cause launch games are typically 15% more expensive then their retail counterparts here, and I'm seeing Returnal going for as low as 35% less at retail than on PS Store, atm. Shouldn't it be the other way around since there's no manufacturing costs, no disc, no box, no import taxes, etc? I guess retailers have to be competitive, but Sony doesn't? What would you say about $100 PS5 games in the US (with tax)? Would a price hike like that go over well, there? Anyway, great show as usual. Cheers.

LastStandMedia

We'll see. I don't think the new price point will have any material drag on game sales at all.

Chrispy

I don't even own a PS5 yet and I'm having a difficult time justifying my future 80 dollar game purchases. For the past five years or so I have mastered my self-control and not purchased any games at launch except for a few of my absolute favorites (RDR2, LOU2, GOW, things like that). I have around 70 games on my PS4 and I would venture that around 85 percent of those I have purchased on sale. I see that Colin doesn't think the price hike will affect sales but for me and people in my circle it definitely will. I am more than happy to wait 3-6 months or longer after a game releases to buy it on sale. A hundred dollar game would be out of the question for me, I would absolutely only buy it on sale. I'm not totally sure what the price of a game actually should be in relation to the production and manufacturing cost, which in the case of games like GTA5 can be a staggering amount, so a hundred dollar price tag would make sense on games like that but personally I am not willing to pay that amount for a game no matter how hyped I am.

MISZCZOGRZMOT

Yeah, I haven't bought a single PS5 game since launch - I've been coasting on my backlog, PS+, PS collection, and deals, so far. Whether tax is included, or not, at the end of the day this is the price I'm paying, and it's hard to justify for a product I don't really need ASAP. I know I'm not alone, and I feel like soft sales of launch titles, Returnal, and others, is *partialy* rooted in this price hike. I don't think Sony would be scrambling to make almost every 1st party title cross-gen, even 2 years after launch, otherwise.

Derek Alcott

This was a great idea. I watch Jaffe's stream all the time and I do wonder why we don't see more of this. I am a big sports talk radio fan so this is right up my alley.

Kevin Cooper

RE: Bioshock in Space. That's the direction I would like the franchise to take as well. There is a Sci-Fi flick called ANIARA that touches on the themes of Addiction and Consumption much like Bioshock does with its Plasmids, so I think the "feel" of this movie would be a good jumping-off point for a Bioshock in Space if they go that route. Looking forward to another call-in show somewhere down the line. Cheers and Salud.

LastStandMedia

I'll check it out. I'm watching BSG again right now and it's really scratching an itch for me.
